What do you do when a child stops going to the bathroom?

My son has been potty-trained for almost a year, and the last few weeks he has stopped going to the bathroom. Seriously, he NEVER goes any more unless I tell him to ( and it's a HUGE fight every time) or if he's already started peeing in his pants. I'm seriously about to lose my mind. What should I do? There's been no chance in household routine, no major life changes, nothing that I can see that would bring this about. Has this happened to anyone before?

has he had, or is he due for a growth spurt? When DS was younger this would happen right before a growth spurt. I wouldn't worry too much about it!

we had a period of that with Logan. So, I made a potty chart and 10 dry days meant we went to the toy store and got something (thomas the train stuff, puzzles, coloring books, etc.) We did it for about 4-6 weeks and he ended up with 3 trips to the store and it cost me less than $20 in bribes. LOL After that I told him that we didn't need to use the potty chart anymore because he was a big boy. It worked well for us!

My ds goes through this every once in a while. He'll start dancing around and refusing to go, fighting with me every time I tell him to try. What works for him is choices. So I'll say, "do you want to go to the bathroom now or wait until (insert something that will happen in like 5 minutes)?" For example, "do you want to go potty now or wait until this song is done on the radio?"
