What are some of your quirks ?

I cannot stand to touch a peeled banana. We had them for snack today at school and I had to put on gloves to peel them and serve them to the kids. I also don't eat bananas. Because I'd have to touch them to eat them. I do eat banana bread if someone else makes it.

I am fish phobic and when there is a fish nearby, I visibly shudder. This was a problem when the school office had a little bowl with a fish in it. I'd shudder every time I went in the office. It died, so no problems now.

I can't handle it when our Keurig light is blinking because it needs to be refilled. I have to fill it. Even though I don't drink coffee.

I can't stand dark rooms. First thing I do in the morning is open the curtains. First thing I do when I get to school is open the blinds. My parents tend to have their curtains closed at all times and I accuse them of being vampires.

(And Libby... I hate wearing socks and shoes. I wear flip flops as long as I can in the fall and start wearing them again as soon as it hits 50 in the spring. But I promise my feet look great.)

I don't like to order fast food. If I'm driving I will purposely not order anything for myself so I can be done ordering sooner. Then I'll drive home and eat a bowl of cereal or something after I pass everyone's food out to them.

Hiccups - When I get them, I get them so bad. They are loud and obnoxious and they hurt really bad. They usually last soooo long, though occasionally I'll get just one really loud one randomly out of nowhere.

I have to have hair over my ears when I fall asleep, and through most of the day. Sometimes I can randomly go through a day with it up, but not often. I even re-cover my ears while I'm sleeping if I roll over or change position.

One I like is if I write down 20 things I need at the store, or a complicated drive through order, even if I leave my list at home, I'll remember it all. If I leave intending to get just a couple specific items without writing them down, I'll forget most of it.

I am kind of scatterbrained so I love to retrace my thoughts to figure out how I ended up where I am at. I am constantly fascinated by the trail of thoughts that cause me to get where I am. Super weird but wildly entertaining!

Hmmm...quirks...nope, I have none at all. Right.

I'm very guilty of the conversations in my head. One or twice I've caught myself starting to act annoyed with DH based on a conversation we had in my head. (Guess I can't hold those against him, huh?) For me it's probably because I'm not really a talker. I'd rather write than speak because I can think first and edit myself. I often don't say things that I probably should because by the time I decide on an appropriate response, the moment is gone. That applies to all sorts of things, not just anger.

I hate sneakers. I wear them to the gym and that's fine, but not for anything else. I'm very casual and am in jeans 99% of the time, but I HAVE to wear them with real shoes or sandals.

I avoid the phone whenever possible. I even put off calling to make doctor's appointments because I don't want to talk to the receptionist. I think Caller ID belongs on a list of the greatest inventions of the last 50 years. My 5 year old is the only one in the house who likes the phone, so I'm looking forward to her being our designated phone answerer at some point in the future.

ohh sometimes I make up my own superstitions.. I can't exactly explain a scenario right at this moment though.

Hmmmm...

Well I can't stand having someone in my personal space. Even my husband and DD. My DD loves to stand right. in. front. of. me. while we wait for her bus and it drives me bonkers! I feel trapped. Like the only way to get away would be by going backwards into danger.

When I go for a walk I imagine myself in one of my favourite tv shows. Either replacing a fave character or being a new character. :P

I have to be the one that packs our bags and the trunk of our car when we go away. No one else does it right.... lol. To me it's like a real life game of Tetris getting everything in with as little wasted space as possible, while also having things we'll need first at the top :P

When I sleep the room has to be dark. No light whatsoever if I'm going to have a good night's sleep, if there's light I just won't sleep as well - I'll have trouble falling asleep, I'll wake up a few times throughout the night etc.

I can't sit through a whole movie at the theater's without a bathroom break. I just can't do it... lol.

I can't watch tv or a movie without multitasking something else. Drives hubby crazy that I'll still be on my laptop, reading a book, looking at a magazine, playing a game on my phone while we watch a movie... lol.

I know the words to a song after only hearing it once. If I've heard it, I can sign it. Yet I've never gone out singing karaoke, though plenty of people have told me I should.

My movies are all in alphabetical order. My DD learned very early on how to alphabetize in order to conform to mommy's need for them to be in order... lol. But she has a remarkable memory, always has, and in the beginning would put them away right by simply memorizing what was beside it when she removed it :P She's a pretty smart little cookie... lol.

Time to take DD to school or I'd probably come up with some more :P

I eat pizza with fork and knife, usually because it is blazing hot and I can't wait. :D

I don't like wearing shoes in the house. If I'm at your house and it's ok I will kick off my shoes too...as long as I'm wearing socks.

I can read with the book upside down.

I prefer to load the dishwasher. It bugs me when things are not in the "right" place.

I do this too!! And A LOT. Sometimes with family members and other people IRL that I'm mad at. And because I don't like dramas, I'd rather have the fight in my head than voice it out.

I carry on conversations (fights) with people in my head that will never happen and for no reason. If you're a member of my family, no doubt we've fought a lot in my head.

I'm giggling abt your quirk, Brook, as I am exactly the opposite.

At my old job, we would go out to eat as a group every other month or so. Since it was my idea, it was my choice to pick the restaurant. I would choose an inexpensive/lunch price restaurant and then go through ALL the items listed to pick out what I was going to order before I got there. Once my coworkers found out that I did this, they would then ask me at the restaurant what I was ordering and/or for recommendations as to what else was on the menu that sounded or I thought they would like. I'm the same way when I try new restaurants on my own/with the family.

I prefer doing the dishes too because then they're done right (rinsed off, put in the right place and everything fits).

I also have the fights in my head! A dr said it was a form of OCD because I would over-analyze every aspect of this so-called "fight" or about a previous situation and all the things I could've done or said differently.

Um...what else? I count in my head, especially when taking the stairs or walking on the sidewalk.

I hold perfectly still if I'm stopped on a bridge or overpass and silently panic about the (extremely rare) possibility of it collapsing.

If it can be in alphabetical order, it will be.

Oh and if I've eaten at a restaurant before, I usually stick to the same item. I know it'll be good and worth my money. DH always chooses something new and is extremely indecisive!

I thought this is absolutely normal, but I do agree that it does seem like a form of OCD...because I tend to over-analyze conversations.

I too love to order the same thing! Like at Subway, I'd always order Chicken Slice with salad, 2 tomatoes, 2 cucumbers, a little bit of onions, and the same sauces.

I love drinking coffee out of styrofoam cups so therefore I ask for and then save (and re-wash until not usable anymore) every to-go styrofoam cup from restaurants we frequent. My favs are Tijuana Flats, Chick-Fil-A and Steak-n-Shake.

I'm trying to think of some. I'm sure I have them.

My husband complains that I will change subjects out of the blue, but there is always a journey in my mind from the topic we were on to the new one. I just don't always share how I got from one topic to the next. ;)

Oh... my pillow... I typically lay on my side. When I do, my pillow has to be arranged so that the opening of the pillow case is behind my head, away from my face. I also hug a pillow and the opening of the pillow case must be towards the end of the bed. I also turn my pillow over several times throughout the night to get to the cool side.

I have 3 alarms set. My first alarm merely tells me I have 45 minutes left to sleep. My husband finds this absolutely crazy, but if I don't have this first alarm then I end up turning my alarm off and running late. Plus, I hate waking up so much that I'd rather wake up with the knowledge that I can sleep a little bit longer before I *really* have to get up. My second alarm is the one that means it is time to wake up. I usually snooze it once or twice. My third alarm is the 'last call' so to speak. I always end up turning my third alarm off before it goes off, but if I don't have it set, I panic that I will end up sleeping through the other two. I'm just not a morning person by any means.

When I'm home alone, which is often these days now that both kids are in school, I must have a candle burning and a podcast blaring to keep me company. I only drink tea when it is freshly brewed. None of that stick it in the fridge and drink it the next day for me.

I have a very specific bedtime and morning routine and it makes me not sleep if I don't follow the
Night routine pretty closely.

I hate for books/trilogies/shows to end so I generally save
The Last book or finale in my queue for weeks so that it won't be over.

Brook, I ask everyone at a restaurant what they are getting, too, never realized it was annoying, I just like to know what they are getting. Then I read about it, even though 9 times out of 10, I can't eat the item anyway because I am a vegetarian and most people I know are not.

My quirks:
1. I cannot set my alarm for a normal time and whatever number I choose has to end in an even number. So like 6:22 or 7:14 or 8:48.

2. I count things in my head and then add them up until I get to a prime number.

3. I am a clutterer, if there's an empty corner open, I pile stuff up in it, yet there's things around the house that have to be set up a certain way. The chairs must be pushed into the table, the toilet seat must be down, the sink must be clean, etc. and if they aren't I feel like it's a mess.

Those are my first thoughts, I am sure there are lots more.

I'm a piler! I hate it. If there's papers on my counter, it all gets piled up. If my counter is clean, my house feels so much cleaner too though!

It drives me nuts, too! I hate it! I think it's because my dad is a ridiculous clean freak, I think it's my way of rebelling even though he's not here. :o

That's funny. My dad is a bit of a hoarder so I'm the opposite. I hate clutter and would fill a dumpster with perfectly good stuff just to get rid of it. I like my benches spotless. I wish they'd stay that way but in my perfect world my house would be shiny and clutter free. I guess I'm this way because my dad is the way he is.

lol! my house can be SPOTLESS and i'd still have piles on the counter, dresser, desk & buffet table. everything else would be clean and tidy but there'd be one pile on each of those...and it might be 1 foot high...lol!

Ha! Too funny! I set my alarm just like this when I used to work outside the home. I even bought a special dual alarm clock that could have 2 different alarms set. That was before smart phones, I love how easy it is to set multiple wake up times with my cell phone now when I do have to set the alarm. DH doesn't understand it, but I swear it makes sense. Good to know I'm not the only one. ;)

LOL-I used to be a 2-alarm person, too and DH never got it. Between DH and DS2, I hardly even need to set one these days. One of the perks (if I want to look on the bright side of it) of being a night owl living with morning people.

These are hilarious! The only thing I can think of right off is I burb when I have the hiccups. I too see what everyone orders but didn't realize that's a problem!!! I usually have something in my mind but ask because maybe I will change my order. Who knew it bugged people?

I too set 2 alarms. If I only set one I sometimes accitentally turne it of instead of snooze and oversleep. It's happened more than once.

I'm also kind of obsessed with even numbers. For example the tv volume has to be on an even number
