what are mornings like in your house?

I'm feeling rather unbalanced lately with my mornings the way they are. How do you manage your household in the morning with different schedules (and personalities)?
I am absolutely not a morning person. I hate alarms. I hate people. I hate being talked to. Looked at. Breathed on. etc LOL

BF's schedule is inconsistent. It depends on what time he has flights, sometimes he's up at 530.. sometimes he sleeps till 930-- So that's unhelpful too. A regular routine in that reguard (Getting him ready, clothes out, coffee made etc) would help make me a bit more pleasant first thing of the day.

Kiddo is pretty independent in the morning at this point. He generally wakes up at 7am with his alarm on his own (except weekends and vacations when he'll sleep till 9). He takes much less effort, makes his own breakfast and aside from a few prodding reminders that yes, you do need to brush your teeth.. yes, deodorant IS a requirement.. he's easy.

I just want to be left alone. until I'm awake. I don't do anything in a routine in the morning other than other peoples routines.
Maybe if I woke up before everyone and had a cup of tea or took a shower .. something. I just feel frazzled until everyone is gone and I have my time to sit and be quiet lol.

Well it's just the 2 of us so it's pretty easy. DD is 13 now so she gets up at 6 am and does her thing and is gone on the bus by 7:25. I work from home so I'm usually up by 5 at the very latest (more like 4/4:30) and I'm already working by the time she gets up. I have my breakfast with her at 6 (oatmeal for both of us usually) and then I work while she gets ready for school. Once she's gone on the bus I just keep working.

I'm not a morning person either... I wake all different times, but I don't like to talk until I'm "awake," too. Hubby gets up at 6:00 or so for getting ready for work... if I didn't get up during the night and move to the living room, I sleep until 8:00 or so (DH leaves at 7)... kiddo is pretty independent and considerate. If he gets up before Daddy leaves for work... DH will get him breakfast... otherwise J will come and crawl into bed with me and either play quietly on the ipad or read while I'm dozing. Luckily with schooling at home - outside of Tues when we have co op and have to be there by 8:30... kiddo can sleep as long as he needs in the morning - but he usually is an early riser... then school for us starts at 9.

DH gets up around 5:30 a.m. for work. This usually wakes me up, and I have a hard time falling back to sleep. I liked it a lot more when he worked second and third shift. :p He leaves around 6:30 a.m. and works from 7 to 5:30 p.m Sunday - Wednesday.

DD and I get up around 7:30 a.m. on days she has preschool. I'd rather sleep until 8 (her school is at 9), but she needs the extra time to sit on the couch and wake up and can't be rushed. I let her watch 20-25 minutes of TV while I get dressed, make her lunch, pick out her clothes, and pack her backpack. She is much more awake & willing to work with me at that point (and I am much more patient when everything I need to do has been done), so she gets dressed & eats breakfast in the last 30 minutes before we head out the door.

Since I am currently unemployed, I get back to the house around 9:30 a.m. and start job searching, making follow up calls, etc. That's when I eat breakfast, shower, etc. My MIL picks up DD after school (at 1 p.m.) and keeps her for a few hours (at her insistence), so I usually spend the rest of the day doing chores and running errands. If I have extra time, I will nap or scrapbook. I pick DD up around 4:30 p.m. from the ILs.

On days when DD does not have preschool, she wakes up between 7:30 and 8. We take a couple hours to wake up, watch TV, eat breakfast, and get dressed before we start doing things for the day around 10 or 10:30 a.m. On these days we usually grocery shop (which she loves) or go to the library. She still takes a nap in the afternoon, so that's when I scrap or catch up on email.

I'm not sure what I will do when I get another job. I guess I will have to drop her off at the ILs at the buttcrack of dawn before work. :p

Our kids are early risers, so they usually wake us up between 5:45 and 6:15. They aren't allowed to get up (except for going potty) until 6:30, at which point DH and I get up. I get the kids dressed and we go downstairs to make breakfast (I hate cold cereal with a passion, so I always make breakfast so that we aren't all hungry by 8am). DH gets ready and is out the door by 7:15. If we need to go somewhere or if I'm tutoring I will turn on a show so I can shower. Otherwise I wait until nap time if I need to shower.

I would love to be in a routine of getting up before the kids, but if one of us is up there is no hope and the tornado of kids just starts earlier. DH and I always do better in the morning if we have our lights off by 10.

I am so not a morning person. But during the week I must get up before the kids and have a shower or I can't wake up and I feel gross (I don't drink coffee). So I get up about 530am, shower, get the kids up at 6 AM, they do their own breakfast, get dressed etc. and I'm usually on the computer or checking emails on my phone. I take them to school at 7 AM, then come back and start working.

On weekends I sleep in some but the dog usually wakes me up.

La, you and I sound a lot alike. I am NOT a morning person and don't need to be bothered until I have my caffeine. My boys have learned to not bother me unless it is life threatening. I wish I was not so cranky. This is one trait I would LOVE to change. I wish I was that mom that woke up excited for the day and prepared a healthy breakfast and started the day on the right foot. I really want that.

My hubby is out the door by 4am so I am on my own in the morning. I don't mind the morning. I just need about an hour to myself before the kids wake up. I usually have some coffee, watch the news, check my email, check the forums, etc. I try to have myself ready for the day before they are awake.

My kids, on the other hand, are a different story. My son (he's six) is a breeze. He does what I ask when I ask. My daughter (she's ten) is NOT a morning person. She frequently growls at me and her brother. I have to ask her a bajillion times to do the things she has to do every morning. I so don't look forward to her teenage years.

I am definitely not a morning person. It's a struggle to get up on weekdays to get ready and out to school. I think I do it on autopilot at this stage, and once I'm home after the school run in the morning, it takes me at least 45 mins to come to life before I can do anything productive! Weekends are a bit better. My two are 7 and 5 and I wouldn't yet trust them to make anything for breakfast that requires much work, so I tend to leave them out something easy like a cereal bar, that keeps them going from the time they get up (usually 7am) to the time I get up (around 9). When I get up, I feed them properly :D, and I feel a bit more alive at the weekend after sleeping for a couple of hours more!

lol, yeh when I say "make breakfast" I mean.. connor eats a muffin I made yesterday. LOL or something similar. he's a bit of a disaster sometimes still haha. It looks like there's a lot of us who are just not morning people :p

This is my morning...

1. DH wakes up with the kids around 7-7:30 (whenever they wake up) and takes them downstairs, he makes a pot of coffee.
2. I wake up at about 8:00-8:30ish when DH comes up to take a shower. I go downstairs and feed the kids breakfast and get a cup of coffee.
3. DH leaves for work around 8:30-9:00ish and we veg out until 9:30 while I eat breakfast.
4. Depending on whether we have an activity or co-op that day, we begin school around 9:30 or 10:00 and that's when our day really starts.

DH is military, but since he's attached to a special forces unit here, they have the guys do their own PT so he doesn't have to get up super early to meet other guys. He still has to get up and do PT, but it's here, so he gets the boys breakfast when they get up. He doesn't have to be to work until 9 so he usually wakes me up before he has to leave if the baby hasn't already.

I homeschool my boys and our school starts at 9. I don't really sleep at night, so it's been a huge blessing to have DH be up with the boys so I can get that extra hour of sleep. Last year when the boys were in public school and I had to get them there by 8, I was a mess! I was only getting about 3 hours of sleep a night so it was really bad.

So yeah mornings are pretty laid back here
