I can't remember if I've mentioned this around here or not...I know I did in the designer area, and told my team...but anyway.

I've been having gallbladder attacks for the last few years, on and off. They suck, they hurt SOO bad. Anyway, the doctors didn't believe me really that it was my gallbladder (I only suspected it because my mom and older sister have been through it and it sounded exactly like what I was going through). But, my doctor finally sent me in for an ultrasound and sure enough, I've got gallstones. I opted to just have my gallbladder removed (and the stones as well, obviously) instead of having the possibility of more attacks at any random time.

This all started happening around mid-February. I found out I was going for surgery about a month back, and I went in for pre-op a couple weeks ago. I was told it would be sometime in May before I could get in. But today the hospital called and booked me for surgery next Wednesday - they had a cancellation and I just want to get this over with.

I know it's a routine surgery, not TOO invasive...I'm a little bit scared but mostly worried about things around home while I'm out of commission. I've got friends and family all willing to help, though...so I'm sure it'll be OK.

So yeah...that's what's going on in my little world...

Oh, no fun! I know gallbladder issues are painful! I hope your surgery goes well and that you recover quickly.

Oh Bree! I am so sorry you are going through this. My FIL and SIL had the same thing and both said the surgery was well worth it.

Is it a laproscopic surgery?

Yep, laproscopic unless they can't get the gallbladder out through the small incision, then they'll open me up. I'm REALLY hoping that doesn't happen because it'll lay me out for a lot longer, lol...

Any surgery is worrisome I know, but you'll be fine! Especially if it's laprscopic...I had a lap a few years ago and all I had afterwards was a little sorness and a bandaid over the incision. I'm sure it will be well worth it too to not have to deal with the pain from stones anymore :) Hugs!

Wish I could do that with all my kidney stones! LOL Good luck on your surgery...I'm sure you'll be back to normal in no time!

you're going to feel SO much better when this is all over and done with, Bree. Just think.... no more debilitating pain! :w00t:

I know you're nervous, but everything is going to be fine. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how smoothly things go at home while you're recovering.

Good luck, hon! xoxox

Bree, I'm sure it'll be worth it when it's over. I've had a couple of surgeries in the past year, and while I always get nervous about it, it's always worth it after it's over.

Hope everything goes well, and you heal quickly!

Oiy! I've never experienced gallstones, but I know of some who have and they tell me that it's awfully painful!

What a long couple of months it has probably been for you!

How soon can they do the surgery?

Hopefully they can do it laproscopically - healing time is much faster and less painful!

I'll be thinking of you!

((Bree)) yay for them moving it up though! I hope the recovery is quick and you feel better immediately! I'm so glad I had my gallbladder taken out, no more pain! You'll be happy it's over with!

Oh no! I am so sorry sweetie!! Surgery of any kind is definitely a bit scary when you are going through it yourself, but I know you will be fine. You will feel so much better afterwards too. BIG HUGS!

My mom had to have her gallbladder removed and she recovered pretty quickly from it-
she just has a tough time eating certain foods now, like hamburgers & pizza because of the high-fat content of them...

I hope all goes well & you have a quick, easy recovery!

I have only had kidney stones and know just how painful they are so I can understand the pain you are going through. Im sure the surgery will be a breeze though...I know alot of people who have went through it and they said having it done that way is really easy with little pain afterwards. Try not to worry about it to much because that will only intensify all the bad stuff. Hope it brings you relief in the end though. No fun being in pain all the time!!

Oh Bree!! I'm so sorry about your gall bladder! Surgery is scary, but I know you'll feel better once it's over.

Good luck Bree! My BIL's girlfriend goes in tomorrow to have hers out (she's only 23)...I know she's worried too! It'll be just fine!

Oh Bree honey lots of prayer and positive thoughts your way, I know you are going to feel so much better to get this done and behind ya. Hugs!

You will feel SO much better, Bree. Recovery isn't horrible. If I can do it with a 2 month old and a 3 year old, you can do it. :)

Thanks, girls... :)

I'm now trying to decide what books to take with me, hahaha...I have to stay overnight, so I will have lots of time to just chill...lol.

I am so glad that you are going to be through with the attacks & the pain!! I have had a few as well, I'm fully expecting to need the surgery at some point later as well! I wish I could come out and help :(.

Bree- that stinks but just think about life post-op when you no longer have the pain from stones and attacks. Your surgery will go well!!!! Hang in there girl!

If they let you stay overnight you should be feeling fairly well when you leave. Stay on top of the pain management for 24 hours after the surgery & you'll probably only feel a bit tender at the incision points. I had mine out at 10am and they sent me home at 7pm, they would have sent me home at 4pm but my blood pressure went up a little from the pain med they injected. I put off taking a pain pill on the ride home, because I thought it might make me too woozy & that was a mistake. I was in burning agony for about 20 minutes until it kicked in. But after that it was fine. I was on Tylenol from then on for 72 hours.

I went home to a 7 week old and a 16 month old. DH went back to work the day after my surgery. Two days after it I drove my mom to the airport so she could go home. it really was a fast recovery.

You will be soooooooooo glad to get it over with! So glad you knew what was causing your problems.

Wow amazing that they put it off that long. I had my first gall bladder attack on the highway (thankfully I was not driving) from OK after my grandmother's funeral. Didn't know what was wrong...but we had to keep stopping for me to go to the bathroom and I hurt. Told dh to stop in Tulsa and put me in hospital...but he refused and brought me home. Went to emergency room because I couldn't quit throwing up once I got home... they did a gallbladder blood test and it came back negative...they put an IV on me to get fluids up and sent me home...still couldn't keep anything down. Saw dr and she said well can't be your gallbladder it's negative. So gave me something to take and try...said it will either help or you'll crash and burn...I crashed and burned...it was a week of this...got so weak I couldn't get out of bed...couldn't even keep a sip of water down! Finally she sent me in for sonogram...and it was my gall bladder. They referred me to a surgeon...I called them and BEGGED AND BEGGED for surgery immediately...they got me in that afternoon to see dr...and I begged him...begged office more...they fit me in...got bumped several times during the night for emergencies...but finally got it done about 9:30 that night or so. Was sooooooooooo glad. I just couldn't function, much less take care of the kids.

What was funny...is after my surgery I told my mom and my best friend my symptoms...within a few weeks they both had surgery! They had the beginnings of the same symptoms!

Sharon, every time I'd go to the ER the attacks would stop and the bloodwork would come back negative, so I'd been told it was: indigestion, heartburn, gas, and muscle spasms, lol.

Good luck with the surgery, Bree!

I had my gallbladder out last April (my pregnancy gave me gall stones), and it was sooooo worth it! The pain of the surgery was nothing compared to the pain of a gallbladder attack. You'll do great.
