Well-I'm off!

I start a new little part time Summer job today!
I am going to be cooking in the kitchen at a brand new Assisted Living Center here in my town.
I went in to ask for some community service hours for the boys and I, to get involved in this summer and it just so happens they were looking for a part time cook. The fact that I have my food handlers license made them want to pay me to come in...so, who am I to say NO...I'll take the 20 hours a week and have fun getting out of the house.

The boys are going to come in the last half of my shift on Sundays to do some fun stuff with the old folks!

Also-I think my boss and I are driving 60 minutes away tonight to see SATC.

Have a good day guys...

That's great, Shannon! It'll be nice to get out of the house some during the long summer...and what a great thing to have the boys chip in on!

I bring Connor to the food pantry with me about once a month when I work, because he loves helping out, and I really want to instill a sense of civic duty and helpfulness in the boys. It's a joy to watch him work - you'll love seeing the boys there, too!

Congrats on your new job Shannon! And good luck on your first day!

I love that idea about community service! I may look into that for me and the boys if I don't find a job soon!

Wow! Sounds like fun and it's a plus because you are showing your boys how to help out in their community. Have fun!

That is really cool for you and the boys, I bet it will make them feel good to help out the community too!!! Have fun.

Congrats sweety, you sound like an amazing woman! Its totally awesome that you are so interested in helping out and giving back to your community and the fact that you get your children involved speaks volumes!! Enjoy your day honey!!

Enjoy your job and the movie! Sounds like a good combo to me. Maybe you can make something to eat and sneak it into the theater with you... :)

that sounds great, Shannon, for you and your boys.

and can I say how impressed I am that someone is going to pay you to cook? (no one would ever pay me to cook :p)

enjoy the movie too!

Sounds like fun Shannon...Have fun on your first day...You're going to have to give us novices some cooking tips...

Ohhh girls!
I totally forgot what it was like to be on my feet all day long! Exhausting-but fun at the same time.
This facility is brand new, and not yet full, so there are 24 residents...not bad.
Guess what I made for dessert??
RHUBARB CAKE!
It was a fun day-it's amazing that no matter where you go women are the same-as soon as one would leave, the others were talking about them...not bad...just talking...HILARIOUS!
I'm off to touch up my make-up and head to Galesburg for SATC and dinner!

That's so awesome! My mom is an interior designer who specializes in assisted living, so I think it's especially great that you're doing something to help them out. :)

Nothing better than to get paid for doing something you love doing,Shannon, lol. Congrats on the job and hope you have a great time tonight.

That sounds great. Isn't it wonderful when a job just falls in your lap like that. Enjoy the time out of the house. And I'm sure the boys will bring a smile to the faces of the residents.
