Ok...so I am a total Etsy addict. I like to look at the "Just Listed" scrolling pictures just to see if something neat comes up. Well, I was just on there and I saw this:

And I thought....hmmm......someone is making and selling underwear. Kinda weird. Then I clicked on it.

OMGosh.

Is it me...or is this a little freaky? I am one of the most liberal crunchy-loving people you'll ever meet and I was little confused on this one. Not getting the whole "secret pouch for the rock" thing.

Susan

Ok....weird....in a weird way. If it wasn't for the "moon" bit they would be kinda interesting.:huh:

I actually think it's kind of neat..if you think the concept of not having to wear nasty granny panties when aunt flo comes is a good one. Also the breathable bamboo fabric is really cool too in case of "leaks" lol.

The moonstone thing is a little out there for me, but I know lots of people that subscribe to that belief system that would love it!

I think it's interesting. I like all of that sort of shizz...

However... the LAST thing I want to be during my "moontime", is sexy. I'll just keep my granny panties thankyouveddymuch.

ETA: I forgot to mention... I'm not keen on wearing a sideways Turkish flag either.

Yeah, I guess....I am just a little more practical about it. Those panties are cute and all, but they are the last thing I want to wear when I begin my Moon Celebration. I usually throw on my big ol' cotton panties with lots of room and then dare my husband to even look at me cross eyed. You don't want to be around me when I am in full Moon Cycle. It is not pretty......

Oh....and not to mention that I don't need anything else to make me uncomfortable during that time....the last thing I would do if shove a rock in my drawers....

LOL I guess my "moontime" isn't so bad so I have a different outlook. I'm a raving lunatic the week before but once I start I'm fine, I also only have a 2 day cycle every 5 weeks with no cramps (most of the time) so I have a different outlook than my sister who is 5 days every 3 weeks and can't get out of bed...lol

Oh Traci...you are so lucky. I am not on birth control anymore cuz I just had a tubal ligation after my daughter was born....so I get the full-on really painful killer moontimes. It is brutual. Sometimes I even get headaches and nausea. My entire life, I was on the Pill, so I never really knew how bad it was. Once I came off to have kids, WOW! It is horrible.

Susan

ugh that's AWFUL Susan. I get bloated..for sure. And Migraines the week before. I've never been on the pill except a couple times when I was a teenager.

I am dying over here laughing at the "Moon Celebration" thing - I have to say that is 1000x better than the alternative names. I shall use it forever.

I too am a lunatic BEFORE my moon celebration starts, in fact I give thanks to the moon when the blessed celebration begins as I dont feel like the entire world hates me anymore. Ask Lauren or Manda - theyve both been subjected to my pre-moon celebration paranoia where I ask constantly, "why isnt anyone posting" "do they not like me" "did something I say make people mad" "where is everyone" - I'm quite insane sometimes waiting for the moon celebration.

While I've often wished for air conditioned undies - I dont get the rock thing tho.

WORD to ya momma.

At the risk of sounding completely crazy and freakish, I am going to try to explain a little. In pagan belief, cycles of the earth and the moon are celebrated- spring/autumn equinox, summer/winter solstice, etc. The moon's cycle is 28 days- about the same as the female cycle. The earth/moon have cycles, females have cycles. Sure who really enjoys bleeding for days- but it is just part of the female, why not embrace/celebrate it like other natural cycles. Ok so I don't embrace my "moon cycle" but I can see the thought patterns of those who might. :)

As for the rock, all things are made out of tiny molecules that move- even solid matter. These moving molecules give off a small amount of energy. Some people believe that the energy given off by rocks/gems have healing properties. Different rocks give off different energies that do different things. Moonstone, the one included with the panties, is very good for balancing out mood swings and the effects of aunt flo's visit. Rocks/gems really do help- I've witnessed the effects myself. Blue Lace Agate and Green Calcite helped bring down my daughter's fever; Citrine, Aquamarine, and Peridot helps me be a happier person; Tiger Iron and Chrysoprase boost my creativity. It works because of the energy released from the molecules it is made of.

Really, I promise I'm not crazy. :)

We got an amber teething necklace for lucas a few months ago (some of you may remember how much I complained about lucas's teething since it was non-stop all the time.. anyways. we tried EVERYTHING. The amber in the necklace is the same - its supposed to release oils into the skin to have a calming effect. Now, he was still pretty miserable and grumpy but both hubby and I can honestly say that we did notice an improvement when he wore the necklace during teething.

oh and Robin I am SOOO like you - except its usually a few days before and during my cycle - which is happening right now.. poor meg is the one that has to put up with most of it from me. When I'm designing my kits its HORRID for her! I turn into a completely paranoid lunatic. I'm nuts.

Well I think we're all a little crazy around here - thats why we like each other.

Good info on the rock thing - I knew that - dated a crazy hot hippie dude in college and we would go buy crystals in venice beach once upon a time. Totally forgot all about it until you mentioned it tho - I guess true love and 3 babies will do that to you :D

I totally get the "science" behind it all...kind of cool and a deliberate part of creation (totally in harmony with my Christian beliefs). I just have never embraced that part of my life, and I curse my womanhood every 24 days (that's my cycle tyvm). I also tend to get migraines, nausea, bloating, blah blah blah.

I also try to be a responsible steward of this planet, but I'm not extreme...ie I won't make my own sanitary napkins and keep a pail in the bathroom until wash time.

This scares me. I've been on the pill since I was 15, and now that we're done having kids, I'm just not sure about going off of it.

Jamie I think a lot of it might be the tubal...everyone that I know that's had one says how horrid their periods get!!! Like ten times worse then before having the tubal!!! That's one of the reasons I refuse to get one!!!!

BTW I'm not crunchy at all or do I believe in pagan/earthy/crystal type things but I thought that was kind of a neat listing. I know that I always don my ugly panties for Aunt Flo...maybe if I bought her some of those pretty sexy ones she might be a bit kinder to me!!! :D :D

Well I went off the pill after DH had his snip snip and mine are fine. The doc on base kept pushing me to go back on the pill for help with the AF symptoms even though I kept telling her I was fine. Do you know how much DH would not let me live it down if I went back on them after he did that?!! But mine are fine, slight cramping etc but nothing horrid. So everyone is different!

yes... robin is insane before her moon celebration :p very.

I think the whole thing is cool.. however..... you shall never catch me with a freakin rock IN my underwear :p

Ummm yea all of the women in my family had a tubal and we all had brutal periods after. Mine were pretty bad before but now I will go for 7-10 day every month with about half of that time being doubled over in pain.
