Weird ACDSee Problem...

This has never happened to me before...

When I DL'd the Love Bites kit, only a very small percentage of the elements are showing up in ACDSee. But when I go to open them up in the GIMP (like Photoshop), they open up just fine. So why can't I see them in ACDSee? It even seems like they're missing file info...but I don't think they actually are, or I couldn't open them up.

Weird I know, mine does that once in a while and I have no clue why. Here's what I do...

Select all the files that aren't showing a thumbnail image... click on Database then select Rebuild Thumbnail and Metadata. Then just wait while it reloads them all. This should fix it, it does for me.

Nothing happened at all...very bizarre! And it works just fine in Windows Explorer. Go figure...

Sorry that didn't fix it, try asking in the DigiScrapInfo forums... they try to give ACDsee support there. Good luck!
 
Is the file name really long? (This includes all of the folders to get to the file.) I had thumbnails that wouldn't show when the total file name ended up being too long.
 
I think I might have an idea. It's a bit hard to see on your screenshots but it looks like the files that don't show up have longer file names than the ones that do. Basically ACDSee has a limit to the number of characters it can cope with. And it's doesn't just count the "xxx.jpg" but the FULL file path. So if you have your digi scrapping folder burried (folder in folder in folder) or very long names on your folders AND then the image files have long names themselves...you can sometime reach the limit that ACDSee can cope with. The only way to solve it is to rename your files/folders with shorter names.

LOL So I take forever to try and explain what I mean and in the meatime Lynnette manages to explain it in one sentence :)
 
:D I only know because I ran into the same problem when I used to use ACDSee and it took me forever to finally figure out that's what the problem was. Oh and I had asked at Digiscrapinfo and they had no idea at the time.
 
Well, that makes sense, since that folder was buried in several folders at first. Now I know what to try next time it happens!

I took an on-line course to learn ACDSee and this was one of the things that we were told about. Someone had it happening to them and the instructor made us all aware of the problem. Apparently if you have ACDSee suddenly shutting down on you, this is also the problem, so you should then check the latest downloads to see which are too long. Good to know for the future if it happens at any time :)
