Wedding Funnies...

maryinaz's post about going to get cherry limeades at Sonic on their wedding day reminded me of a couple stories...feel free to share yours! :)

At my SIL & BIL's wedding, all the guys (and their wives, and me - I was dating DH at the time, he was the best man) went to A&W before the ceremony, all dressed up.

When I worked at McD's we had a limo come through drive-thru - the newly married couple and I guess their wedding party ordered food, lol.

Did you do anything "funny" at your wedding, or know someone that has? I think it's fun to do something silly like that and provides some good memories, lol...

My maid of honor and the best man hooked up with the help of a bottle of Aftershock. The next day we had to drive back to the reception place to retrieve the bottle from the bushes. :)

Nothing super funny...

DH and I forgot to secure a ride from the church to the reception, so my BFF and her DH took us. Picture me in a huge wedding dress squeezing into the back seat of a Honda. It was awesome.

My then 14 year old brother caught my garter and one of my super hot bridesmaids caught my bouquet...imagine a 14 yo boy putting a garter on a super hot twenty-something. I have pictures. Priceless.

Not so funny:
At my bridal luncheon (the day of our wedding, mind you), my MIL told me that DH decided he really didn't want to get married anymore. Oh, and she told my mom. And my Gran. And all my friends. Yeah, she's that pathetic.

At my wedding it was sooo cold (it had been relatively nice out...about -10C generally, but dropped to -40C the day of the wedding) and my bridesmaids were from a warmer climate...they REFUSED to leave the hall after pictures, so I was locked in the mother's room for an hour while all the guests arrived and settled in.

Um.. let's see... my wedding coordinator FORGOT about me and my dad.. I heard the here comes the bride start and went running across the hall. Jeff thought for a minute that I wasn't coming.

My dad rented a PT Cruiser to take us from the church to the hall... across the street, so why he rented a car is beyond me... our wedding colors were silver and purple... they offered him a purple pt cruiser, but he rented a red one.

When I was taking pictures with my uncle, my slip was showing and no one told me.

At the reception, Jeff and the groomsmen thought it would be really funny to do a stripper type routine on me. In a chair. there are pictures of the best man face down on the floor with his legs wrapped around my waist. Then they picked me up on the chair and carried me around the room.

Oh, and my brother got really drunk.. stole our bottle of champagne and drank the whole thing.. plus more.. and was out doing the macarena.. hysterical.. I still laugh about that. :D

We had a Vespa for our getaway car (you know, like in the Wedding Planner). Don't ask me how--I still haven't figured it out 5 years later--but my sister locked the keys to the Vespa in the trunk. So while everyone was trying to jimmy the trunk open, Aaron's aunt gave us a ride in her minivan so we could get going. Extremely romantic.

Also, we got married in the morning and were having the reception in the evening. I realized I had forgotten to buy a garter, so we went to David's Bridal in our wedding dress and tuxedo. It was awesome to hear all the comments from the brides-to-be in the shop. We loved it! We also stopped by Orson Gygi (cooking store) to pick up some servers for our food. I think we were really just looking for excuses to show off!

With an 18 person guest list (and 5 of those leaving after the ceremony), our 'reception' was at Outback Steakhouse. For some reason, my mother insisted I open the wedding presents while I was sitting in front of OS waiting for them to push a couple tables together for everyone.

*lol* Can you even imagine how that looked?! Me in my dress opening up horrible tacky-looking 'glassware' with a crowd of 20somethings around me in front of Outback Steakhouse?!?

I can't believe I didn't see the writing on the wall then. :p

My brother and SIL went to an ice cream place right after their wedding.

well, after getting our car broken into while we were having our photos taken at Riverside Park (you know Bree, the one in downtown Kamloops), and after having all our friends complain about the music (ok, so it was the usual DJ for the Moose Hall, arranged through my parents - but over half the guests were over 45!!) ... Des, me and our crew (my best friend and her now ex-dh, my matron of honor who flew all the way up to BC from AZ and had all her ID stolen - it was in the car along with her video camera - and Des' best man who came from Manitoba) and some friends headed to one of the rowdier nightclubs in the area (again, Bree, you may remember the Village hotel on Tranquille, between NH Mall & Surplus Herby's) - I got there sober, left pissed drunk. I think Des had some fun that night in the honeymoon suite, I don't remember much. lmao

my wedding was fine, except for me being sooo nervous with stage fright that i recited my vows while looking at DH's feet. i only looked up to kiss him, lol. our reception was fine too. no incidents. it was a very simple reception; we rented tents and had it in the backyard of a family friend. July in Indiana, surrounded by cornfields, lol. When we left, i was thinking we were going to stay at the holiday inn or something after we grabbed some booze at a liquor store (lol). no. we instead, went to my BIL's house. how romantic. i was PISSED. he finally said, fine lets go. we stayed at the Super 8. he acted like he would rather be still at his brothers. i wanted a typical wedding night experience, lol. :p we didnt have a honeymoon, cause he had just gotten out of basic training and was to report to his first duty station at ft Hood TX. and we couldn't afford one anyway.
