weather themed favors?

If you remember, this year my son's birthday theme is Weather. He did get a tour of one of our local news stations and was pretty darn excited about that... and he got a second offer to go to a competing news station and see their weather area. Boy, the weather guys in my area are so nice! I got autographed photos of most of the local weather guys... and my invite is in final stages of being assembled, so I hope to have that posted tomorrow...

Here is my problem... not sure what to do for favors... the invites are family, avg age is 70 and two kids (ages almost 2 and 5). Last year for the travel theme, I made little suitcase out of Heather's fry box and filled it with a bag of pretzels, peanuts, and those graham cracker cookies they give out on Delta... this year I'm not sure what to give out as a favor... I don't want to spend too much money... and since most of the family is sslloowwly understanding that they TAKE it them, I don't want to end up with a bunch of them... haha So far the only thing I can think of is an umbrella with a cute hybrid tag attached... or a small flashlight... not sure how to dress it up...

Any other ideas you can think of? Also not sure what weather related I could get the two kids...

i wonder if you could find any simple craft or something to make like mini tornados or something simliar to that.. like making funnel clouds with bottles but smaller scale.

There are only two kids... the tornado would be cool... hmm.. or a game - do think I see a Sticky Learning coming... ;)

wind chimes *shudder*... that is like nails on a chalk board for me, those coming BETTER take those with them!! haha :D I'll even put them in their car for them... ;)

I do like the idea of the rain boots...but you could also include a pair of kiddie sunglasses, small umbrella, glow sticks (for when the power is off during a storm/kids love those), playing cards and snacks. That way they are prepared for any weather;) You could fix a cute tag in a weather survival theme. Just a thought.

If the average age is 70, I wouldn't bother with favours to be honest. I'd give the kids a little cellophane bag of lollies and that's it, but then... I'm cheap ;D
