(((((hugs))))) girlie...
Even though I work full-time and make a decent salary I'm really stressed too. We sold our old home at top dollar and purchased a new one about 2 years ago, right before the economy took a dump. Our new neighborhood is filling up fast with foreclosures (fortunately, none are on my street). The house two doors down from us and EXACTLY like ours just sold for.... $150K LESS than what we bought ours for. That's a LOT of money to be upside down on. I'm so stressed out about it.
Not only that the loan that they wrote for us is NOT what we wanted, but we were forced to sign or incur thousands of dollars on penalty. They disclosed the terms of a loan that didn't even exsist. We were really put in a bad place by the mortgage company (Wells Fargo). We had thought that it would be a piece of cake to refinance, we thought wrong!!! We will be ok for about 13 more years.
For those of you that keep saying that daycare is so expensive... you really have to look. I live in Los Angeles and we have some of the highest expenses in the country, yet I only pay $125 in daycare for FULL time all week. You must ask around, call people. Don't just head over to the nearest preschool and expect them to be cheap. The big preschool here charges nearly $1,000 a month....I can't afford that!!!
There are also agencies that will help you out. Here is the one for our area:
CCRC. Many preschools and daycares are subsidized by federal, state, and local governments. Some of the agencies allow parents to pay for daycare on a sliding scale.
If you have a college degree you might consider substitute teaching. Subs in my district make anywhere from $110-150 per day. Many states and areas don't even require a degree. You will have to pay for a certificate from your state, ours is about $50 a year. Call your local district to find out the requirements.
Good luck!
