WD My Book EHD - help?

I just go my new EHD (500 GB!) but I am feeling technically challenged LOL. I can't figure out how to save my files to it. My other EHD is a WD Passport (160 Gb) and it was so easy to use, just copy and paste to the data file.

Anyone want to point me in the right direction?

I just open up 2 explorer folders, and drag and drop my files between them. Whether it's from my laptop HD to my EHD, or one EHD to the other, that's all I do.
If I want to save directly to it, I just browse to it and save.

Not really sure what other kind of problem you're having.

I guess its the drag drop part, my old one has a file called "data" so all my files go in there, but my new one I just not sure where to put the files. Maybe I am just a dork and it doesn't matter where I put the files, as long as it is on that drive?

I don't have a MyBook, but we have 3 WD Passports... and just Drag 'n drop, or copy & paste the files.

Maybe you can troubleshoot your issue that way (since I don't know which version of the drive you have)

My dh just bought this one last night and backed up my laptop with it. He doesn't care for it.

He may end up taking it back to Costco. Wish I could help, but he's at work right now and I didn't help with it last night.

I just got a 1 TB My book... I hope you like your better than I like mine...my computer doesn't recognize that it's there most of the time, I'm forever having to turn it off and on because it 'times out' on me in a really short amount of time (like twice an hour while designing a LO) and so I can't save anything or access new files.

I hope you don't have that problem!
My husband put my files on for me.... sorry I can't be much more help!

I have a My Book and I haven't figured out how to back it up with my backup system...and when I try to use the back up they have it won't let me use a disc. I just paid $30 for online backup and it won't even back up my photos.

I have the 1TB My Book and just drag/drop from my computer to the EHD...I just drag/dropped entire folders and so it created it right on there. It doesn't need to be in a "data" folder or anything.

I could never figure out the backup system that came with it, lol...so I just do it my own way.
