Ok so now im really craving a wacom but i have no idea which one is for me? My main reason in wanting one is making some of my own doodles and some of my journaling. can anyone help me????

Get the bamboo...the writing surface is amazing and helps so much with doodling and handwriting because it feels like you're writing on paper rather than on those wierd slick screens you sign credit cards with in some stores.

Hope that makes sense. Bamboo ALL the way!

Robin....I have a Wacom Graphire. Would you say that the Bamboo is that much better that it would be worth replacing the Graphire?

Susan

Susan, I have both. I had the Graphire and bought the Bamboo to replace it since my pen was cracked. The Bamboo is great, but I also thought the Graphire was great. If you were buying for the first time, I'd say Bamboo... but I'm not sure it is worth the upgrade. The slick surface of the Graphire does have some benefit and I miss the slide of the pen on that surface. The bamboo doesn't have the same 'slide' and is more 'paper-ish'... which can totally be an advantage too. There is also some benefit to the new functionality in the Bamboo buttons. You can program 4 buttons on the tablet. But I hate the new touch pad part. I liked the Graphire's scroll wheel and miss it quite a bit. I'm sure I'm no help, LOL, but unless your Graphire is messed up or you are unhappy with it, I'd probably say to wait to get the Bamboo until you need to replace it for whatever reason.

I had a graphire too before I got the bamboo and there's nothing wrong with it (what can I say I like new toys) and I totally LOVE the bamboo and am so glad I upgraded. It's made a big difference for me in terms of control but I had a really hard time with the slick surface of the graphire so the grittier surface of the bamboo rocks my world.

Hard to say Susan...really depends on what you want!

I got a blue Bamboo for Valentines Day and I use it all the time - But there are some things that I haven't quite figured out yet - does anyone know a good site that has some tutorials on it for wacoms????

I was considering upgrading to the bamboo and I'm like Robin and don't really care for the slick surface. I feel like the extra slide makes me tend to overdo some of my strokes alot of the time and then I am redo things over and over. I think I will pick up the bamboo tonight!!

I want to buy one too but was unsure which to get....Thanks for the info, off to investigate some more!!!!!

I love my bamboo, I don't own any other so I really can't compare, but I have no problem with mine. It's very easy to use, just takes some time learning how to control your hand. I doodled on it for the first time here. I also have some wrist pain from using the mouse and this has eased the pain some. I haven't used my mouse since I got it!
