Visiting NYC and looking for advice

We'll be visiting NYC in September 3 days before we take off for a cruise.

Looking for suggestions on where to stay ... in the city ... in NJ and use some sort of transportation to get to the city? Also, don't want to really break the bank - lol.

I thought I was good with staying in NJ, but then read some articles that say to stay in Manhattan, hands down. So now I'm back to confused and nervous - ha ha.

Any help is appreciated!

It's been a few years since I visited NYC, but when I did, I stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Jersey City. The Exchange Place PATH station was just out the door and was a quick train ride into lower Manhattan (World Trade Center stop). It was less expensive than a hotel in Manhattan and the room was large. It's on the Hudson and has great views of the Manhattan skyline (and you can also see the Statue of Liberty).

Thanks for that info! I just Googled the Hyatt, what a beautiful hotel! Jotting the info down in my notes!
