Valentine's day for your kids

Do you get them anything other than the dreaded candy? I always am trying to find something to get for my hubby but then forget my kids. So just wondering what other people do???

I generally get Rachel something on her wish list that she didn't get for Christmas...this year it will probably be a LEGO Friends set (a small one LOL) or DS game. She'll get a little bit of candy, and sometimes her daddy buys her flowers.

J will get a little toy, no candy... but otherwise it is just a day of activities that he will love like a picnic in the living room (there is a no food ban in that room normally), and I want to do heart shaped foods.... :)

Good question! Believe it or not, we still Halloween candy left, lol.

LOL. We are just finishing off our Halloween candy too. Scary. Hubby and I are experts at ignoring holidays, so we barely do anything for each other, let alone the kids. They get enough candy at school, they don't need any more from me. :) But, I'm a scrooge. :D

I always do something for my girls for Valentine's Day. I do a very small amount of candy, a small gift ( last year was magnetic display boards for their rooms, mini scrapbooks, a t-shirt, earrings etc) and I always write them a letter telling them what I love about them.

We are doing the Goldfish idea floating around Pinterest for their classes. I don't really get them candy. We do heart theme day where all the food is heart themed. For my husband we are going useful gifts this year. I'm getting him a new razor head and shaving cream for his fancy razor. :) We don't do lots of candy. I threw out the Halloween candy after the first of the year.

I plan on baking a heart-shaped cake with DD for all of us to eat on VDay. I also bought some cheap plastic necklaces and a VDay outfit to hopefully take some pictures of her in. If I think abt it, she and I will make cards for her grandparents.

She's little, so she doesn't know what VDay is yet or care what we do.

I ordered a bunch of nail art supplies for my girls for Christmas and it just arrived!!! Looks like that is what they are getting for Valentine's day.

I just threw away all of the Halloween candy yesterday!!!

I'm hoping to avoid the entire candy glutonny thing. We got to overdone in December. We've been on a big sweet fast.

I'll probably get him a little present. Last year it was a stuffy. I'm thinking maybe a small lego kit.

I've never done candy for Valentine's Day but I usually get her a movie that she wants (we're big movie buffs and don't have regular TV so we collect movies). This is it's Breaking Dawn 1 and then for Easter she'll get Breaking Dawn 2 to round out that series.

Well, mine don't go to public school so they don't get all the valentines, so we give them treats here for sure. Not necessarily candy, but bake some goodies at least. And they'll get a gift of some sort too.

They get goodies n school and we usually bake goods for when their papi gets home.
Ive never thought to get then nythg other than their Val. clothes & Val for the class.
I may have to make them heart pancakes now..

I usually get Landon a card (that plays music!) and a small gift. Nothing too big. Sometimes it is a movie or stuffed animal. Just a little something. I usually make a special dinner with dessert. I hardly ever have dessert around here so I try to make it special.

I've gotten mine a small tub of cotton candy the past couple of years and now they associate that with Valentine's Day. So it's kind of become our little tradition...usually that and a very small toy..like 5 dollars or less.

We do some small gifts. This year we are giving the boys books, new plates and cups, Imaginext Dinosaurs (for Blake). And probably a little bit of candy. We also have cute little mailboxes (got them at Target - and decorated them with digi supplies) that I'll put the card in or something along those lines. And then we'll do something fun for lunch.

It depends really. Every year I get them each a new shirt or outfit that is Valentine's Day themed. That's more for ME than it is for them though. Then we do some kind of heart shaped pizza or other creative 'love day' themed meal along with a yummy dessert. They always get some kind of gift too. It really depends on the year as to what I get them. Sometimes it is traditional candy and stuffed animals and sometimes it is a toy they've been wanting. I like to get them balloons too since they don't get them too often the rest of the year.

Valentine's Day is far from my favorite holiday though. Growing up I hated it with a passion. Now I try to do things so my kids will enjoy it.

I usually get my daughter a stuffed animal and an outfit since there is usually a party at her daycare. Definitely no candy- she will get plenty of that at daycare. :)

Yeah- I got the kids the $5 shirts from old navy this year. The big heart on it is made up of tiny skulls so its valentiney enough for my pages but still boyish that they wont get their butts kicked in school. LOL! Will probably get them a small lego set or something.

My husband and I don't make a big deal over Valentine's for each other, but I do love getting the girls some goodies. Not always candy, but general a plush and a toy, or movie. I always "ooh and ahh" over the cute valentine's stuff at Target, so I generally scoop up to much LOL
