Used Canon SLR - Good or Not?

I really, really (really) want to upgrade to a Canon SLR - I've wanted to for years, but haven't bit the bullet and purchased one.

So I was browsing through a local free classifieds site and found a Canon Rebel XT, that comes with 3 batteries, charger, box, software, strap, two lenses, standard EF-S 18 - 55 mm II lens and the Tamron 55-200mm f4-5.6 Di II LD Macro.

I emailed her and it was purchased new in 2005 and has taken 6082 images. She said that it wasn't used a whole lot up until this past year and is in excellent condition.

She's asking $450 CDN.

What do you think??

could you test it before you decided? if it worked its a steal! but i would be afraid something is wrong with it, lol. not everyone is honest, but i hope this is legit!

I asked for a 4 week guarantee, but she declined saying that she wouldn't be witness to how it was handled. I can understand that, but I wouldn't be too happy if I paid the money and then it quit.

There is always such an element of risk with buying second hand, but in reality, so long as she guarantees that it is in working order now, there is no reason for it to go wrong is there? But i would check around ebay etc to make sure that you can't get a similar price, because it is 4 years old. I love my canon (its not called a rebel in australia but same deal) and we bought ours in 2006 and it is going strong. We have taken 10s of thousands of picks, maybe 30 0000. Once i get it on multi shot mode i am hopeless.
I would go for it, but first check ebay because at least there you can see the buyer feedback. We now have two canons, the rebel and the 40d. Can't leave home without it.

Yes, a steal with the 2 lenses! I have an XT and it works great...too bad the user (ie, me) can't take a picture to save her life LOL

hahahaha...I have a T1i and still can't figure it out...and to top it off I just bought a new lens!!!! 50 mm 1.8!!!
