Update:Prayers for Braden

I promised I would update. It all happened so fast..I haven't even really processed it yet.

Braden came into the living room gagging on something, so I gave him a few pats on the back thinking it was maybe a cracker or something. But then he was choking. I tried to remember what I could from CPR class and I did a finger swipe and found little chunks of glass. So I started patting his back again and he starting choking more and throwing up blood and his breath was a wierd whistling sound.

I called 911, and the man stayed on the phone with me til they arrived. It seemed like hours and Braden was turning bluish. 3 EMT's were all around him and I couldnt see and one was telling me what was going on, but I swear I couldnt hear him. They performed an emergency tracheotomy on him and one guy was doing some sort of hand held air bag thing.

They had to put him under to get the glass that was wedged in his throat and they used a scope to see if any had gone into his belly and they removed that too.

He will be here for a couple more days. Brandon is bringing Jake this afternoon and then I will take Jake home and Brandon is doing the over night tonight. I will get back on and let you know how he is doing.

Oh no Amy you must have been so scared. Poor baby, I do hope he recovers quickly. Thank you for the update, I'll keep your family in my prayers
 
Oh gosh how scary! That is truly my worst nightmare and I'm so sorry you and your little one had to go through all that. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers!
 
Oh Amy. I can not even imagine. I *know* all too well the old feelings that this had to bring up for you. I'm so sorry that you guys are going through this, and I'll be praying lots both for his recovery as well as peace for you. *HUGS*
 
Oh my gosh, how scary! I'm so sorry. Many prayers to your family. Hope he is well and home soon.
 
Oh no! I'm so glad that they were able to help- I know how scary that can be! We'll keep thinking of you guys until everyone is home and feeling better. Give Braden a big kiss!

Wow, Amy. I don't even know what to say. I can't even begin to imagine how scary all of this was/is for you. I'm so glad he is okay and I'll continue to keep him and your whole family in my prayers. Big Hugs, honey.
 
Oh goodness. I will send more prayers for Braden and your family. I cannot imagine how terrified you both must have been. I hope he has a speedy recovery!
 
oh gosh amy. :( Yes, I got the first text but then I texted you back and nothing, so that must have been when your phone died. Poor baby. :(
 
Amy I am so sorry to hear about this! You are a strong brave lady, I would be falling apart! Prayers and hugs to you and your little guy. Sometimes I think things like this are MUCH more tramatic for the momma! Good luck!

as a side note..I bit a glass thermometer when I was a kid and swallowed glass too...the Dr made me eat bread (I guess to absorb it..and hope i swallowed no mercury)

Gosh- I'm not that familiar around here but this touched me to tears- could feel your stress and worry. I know the power of prayer. Sent some up just now of thanksgiving--that help arrived in time....and more for a complete problem free recovery. Also strength, healing periods of rest and calming assurance for you and your husband to ease your way through this worrisome time.
