Update on my son

Just wanted to let you all know that we got the pathology reports back on my son's cancer. The doctor was pretty sure it was a neurolastoma, and had given us a pretty poor prognosis on Monday. However, once the reports came back we found out that it is actually a germ cell tumor. He has put the probability of the treatments working at about 70%. My son is already a stage 4 because this is a silent tumor that progresses quite a bit before it is detectable, so we thought that was a pretty good chance and are optimistically hopeful at this point. Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers. They have been a great strength to us during this difficult time. He started chemotherapy last night, and so far is handling it well. I have been trying to do regular updates about him on my blog http://momentstakemybreathaway.blogspot.com/ if any of you are interested.

Thanks for the update, I'm glad that his prognosis is looking so favorable, that is good news indeed! Lots of P&PT!

I have read your blog. Your family is in my prayers. I have no words of comfort except to say that I love Balboa. They have a special place in my heart, we spent many days and weeks there for several years. I pray that they take good care of your son (and you and DH too), the way they took care of my family. I have total trust in their knowledge, their care, their professionalism and their kindness.

Many hugs for you!

So glad to hear it sounds better than originially thought. I will continue to keep you all in my thoughts.

I am very glad that your son's diagnosis has improved. Hopefully, your husband will get reassigned so you can be together through Shadrach's recovery. You all will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

I bet all the nurses are so taken with him....who wouldn't be...he is a cutie!!!
