Update on JJ and Jeff :)

So far Abby and I are fine <knock on wood> I may lose my mind. :cursing:

Blah so.... no cast yet for JJ... because he broke both bones and they are still healing, they want to leave him in the splint for another week-2 weeks. He goes back on Monday for more xrays and then they will either cast him or wait another week. He will be in a long arm cast, and he is done swimming for the summer, which he's rather heartbroken about.

Jeff's transfusion is going well, they are on the 2nd unit, and he said he is starting to regain some feeling in his feet and fingers, so that's amazingly wonderful.

That's it from the rollercoaster over here. :)

Sara - Sending you loves and prayers and some patience (perhaps I should throw some chocolate in there too!). I hope things get better for you soon. Glad Jeff's transfusion is going well hopefully this will help him feel better! How tough for JJ :(.

Wow, Sara!!! You've definitely been through the wringer!!! :hugs: It's amazing that the transfusion is giving Jeff such an instant relief... That's GREAT! And I'm so sad for JJ... I remember having a cast one summer it was sooo hot and itchy. I was able to bathe, shower, and even swim though (kind of swim... more like wade) with a bag taped tightly to my arm above the cast.

Ask for a waterproof cast! When my son broke his leg, I knew nothing about them and people kept recommending it to me. When we went back in for the second cast, I asked and they gave him one. Told me insurance doesn't always cover it all, but that they would put it down as a training experience for them and then it would be a normal cast. It was so nice. He had a full leg cast.

By the time they cast him the pool will be closing in 2 weeks and I don't want to pay the $50 to waterproof it for him to swim twice those weekends. He can't swim for 2 weeks regardless b/c of the splint, so I'm not going to spend the extra to get it waterproofed. Doesn't make him any less mad, unfortunately lol

Glad Jeff is getting this done and praying he'll feel so so much better!

I hope JJ feels better soon. I'm sure he's in pain and now no swimming? Dislike for him!!!!

I'm glad to hear the transfusion is already helping! I hope Jeff is feeling lots better by now. I hope JJ isn't in too much pain and that he can find some fun things to do instead of swimming.

The waterproof cast actually really helped for bathing, not for swimming for me. I didn't have to worry about keeping it dry and if he was itchy, I stuck him in a tub of water and it helped.
