ugh, september....

While I'm a Fall/Christmas girl THROUGH & THROUGH- I miss August.

Our September days are just stupid. Today, for example I literally have 4 places to be at the same time. My daughter is a Senior so we have all the senior things & meetings and her last slow pitch softball season just started. My son's a freshman, his club hockey season just started & our billets for our local WHL hockey team are here (19 & 20 yr old boys- SO MUCH FOOD!) My hubby & I are like ships in the night & between work & all the kids' stuff- I already feel overwhelmed- and it's JUST STARTED!

Anywho- coming here & getting to be creative is definitely my therapy! lol! I'm trying super hard to balance my "me-time" for my own sanity so just a note of thanks for being a place to rest! ;) I'm off to my weekly costco run for bread, milk & chicken! :D

I am a retired teacher (my first September retirement), and I feel your pain. Every year, I felt like time sped up exponentially in September, and it didn't slow down until November. I do not understand it why we can not ease ourselves and our kids into the school year

Can your kids carpool with friends? Alternate each week, so one week you take kid A and their friend to practice while kid B catches a ride with a friend. Next time swap duties - you take kid B and friend while kid A catches a ride with the friend's family. I had to do that with my kids as they got older, just to fit everything in. It definitely helped once the older one could drive, then she could take herself to practices/events. We didn't go to all of them with her. Even then, I'm sure you'll still be busy. Good luck balancing it all!

Wow, Amie! It sounds like you definitely have a packed schedule! I know, as a mom and retired teacher, how hectic things can get. I’m glad SSD is a place where you can recharge your batteries. That is so important. I also listen to audio books when I am doing food prep, cooking etc. It feels like “me time” even though I’m in the middle of working. I know this is a busy season but I hope it is also a season full of lots of fun and many memories!

Sending you virtual hugs! I know it sounds lame, but trust me, you will miss this! My oldest is now a senior in college, my middle child graduated last year, and my youngest is in 10th grade. They all played baseball/softball at the same time, plus my oldest ran cross-country, track and field, and indoor track. We were always running to games, picking up from practice, or team team-building things. It helped once the older two started driving, and ran for the high school at the same place since they were three years apart. But now that I don't have games and meets to run to, I definitely miss it! My youngest might play baseball again, but those days of juggling schedules are done. Sometimes, I don't know how we got through it!

Hang in there! Ask family or friends for help if you can, but most importantly, take it all in and try to enjoy it!

Thanks everyone! I know we've all been there/done that!

Thankfully my daughter drives herself to everything so that was life changing! She can't really drive my son, as they have really different schedules and she stays after school for softball practice. We also have set up a carpool with some neighborhood friends to get the boys to school, so that's one less thing I have to think about. Thankfully, my husband is my son's hockey coach, so they usually go off to hockey together. It's definitely a "divide & conquer" vibe! lol! And also thankfully, our older hockey boys drive themselves, so really I just have to feed them is all!

Me too! I found audiobooks a few years ago & have figured out how to make them work for me (listening at 1.75 or higher so my mind doesnt wander!) ;)

This is my mantra on these crazy days! I know I'll miss it & for sure don't know what my husband & I will do with ourselves!

I've always marveled at your ability to do all.the.things! Scrapbooking is definitely helping me these days, as I'm dealing with changes in medications. Scrapbooking lets me scurry back to memories and escape for a while as I make pretty things.

Sending you ((HUGS)) and all the vibes for organized chaos! LOL

Just clone yourself three times and it'll all be good. :) I agree with Lynn, you'll miss it and wonder what to do with yourself. It goes by quick.

I think this is why Star Trek has a teleporter.

Hoping things calm down soon and you get plenty of scrapping time in the meantime!

Oh, goodness, I always wonder how you all with multiple children do it all. I am busy enough with 1 kid.

Yay for your first retired September! I've got this year and next.... and I am already looking forward to my first retired September lol!

Oh Amie...I remember those days of wishing I could clone myself. Hang in there... it does get better... and sometimes I even miss it a little (but not often lol)

Right!? I have a friend with 5 kids & they are all in sports and activities & she just has an amazing village, otherwise it couldn't work! She also has the best personality- go with the flow type and that's just not me! lol

I know I will- I also know that I might actually have time for more of my hobbyies that just collect dust right now! ;)

I work at a University so it’s always hectic. But this year we’re going on an early vacation. I’m support staff do thankful that I can do this. It saves a lot of money, it’s wat more quiet (no tourist droves) everywhere and the weather mostly is still nice. Good luck with all the busy schedules! Christmas break is coming haha!
