Ugh...Jury Duty

I was able to bring a laptop when I was called 2 or 3 years ago... I mean, when they were deciding who would serve and who wouldn't. Looong day :\

OMG I *want* jury duty!!!

I finally got called about 3 years ago and was like WAHOOOO. They ended up not needing a jury at all that entire week.

Damn my small town with it's low crime rate. :glare:

I brought papers to correct, but at the same time, I brought my ipod and blackberry...so I guess that's not really different than a laptop...just think about if you are going to have to go through security.

ME TOO!!! I've never been called. Ever. :glare:

Those of you who haven't been called, be glad! Yes, the single day off with a book or laptop is nice. But there's no guarantee it'll end with just a day.

I was put on a jury during my summer break in college one year. It was interesting and a good experience to do it once, though at the time I was pissed that I had to give up my only 2 free weeks all summer to be on a jury. And I'm lucky the case only lasted 2 weeks, or I might have lost the out-of-state summer job I was about to start. But at this point in my life, no way could I be on a case for an indefinite amount of time. From one day to the next we didn't know how long we'd be there, and as a SAHM it would be a nightmare for me to try to arrange child care. I hope I don't get called any time soon!

Most of the time, its pretty easy to get excused if you are the primary caregiver of a child.

really...some of you WANT jury duty. that's like saying you like to go to the DMV or have a monkey poop on your face.

get a grip.

p.s. i have it next month. not looking forward to it one bit.

I've got my bag packed.

Some grading (with more in the car that I can retrieve)
Pens to grade with
Laptop
EHD (just backed up my kits and pics)
some cash for water
Driver's License
Jury Summons

anything else?

hmm have fun with that! I only got called once but got out of it easy because of that SAHM thing. ;)

I don't think my hubby ever has!

Good Luck Samara!!!

I've never been called either but what I find amazing is my dad is 74 years old and he has never once been called for jury duty....how weird is that!?!?!

I actually don't mind the DMV. It's quiet. I have no kids with me. I can read a book in peace without hearing a little person say Mommy every 2 seconds.

I got called over the summer, but when I called to see if they needed me they didn't.
Sounds like you're good to go though Samara!

I hear you! Last spring I needed some time away so badly that going to the dentist seemed like a nice break! The DMV is way better than the dentist.

Good to know--thanks! I was called twice in college but haven't been called since so I didn't know that.
