Travel journal

I want to bring a travel journal of some sort with me on our trip to France, but I'm unsure what kind is the best option. I was thinking of bringing my planner, and then I would need planner inserts or make my own (but as I'm having trouble with too little time for anything, making another project is not something I'm to happy about). The other option is to buy a small notebook and just write the dates in and pretty it up a little bit as I go. Or I can get a ready made travel journal, but then what kind do I get?
Have any of you ever made one? Bought a great one you'd love to recommend or just have a great tip for me? I'd love to hear about it. If you have pictures I'd be thrilled to see them.

Thank you!

I haven't used a travel journal as such. I just keep notes in a regular journal, and keep all my ticket stubs and brochures etc. A proper travel journal WOULD be very useful though.

On the flipside, when you get back from your trip, Misty has some great templates that will showcase your photos beautifully:

I use a small spiral notebook to take notes during the day. Then before bed I type up my notes so they're ready to go once I'm ready to make my LO.

I would probably just bring an old school notebook too, preferably one with pockets inside or bring an envelope (one of those larger ones with the metal clasp thingie so nothing falls out.) I've done that for the week-in-the-life-of kind of projects. Just stick any ticket stubs/brochures/pieces of nature/restaurant receipts in the envelope and jot down in your notes what date they belong to.

An actual planner does sound fun though.

What about a regular three ring binder (probably one you have around the house), or, a planner you already have... take everything out of it, insert notebook paper, and one manilla envelope for each day of your trip. Hole punch the envelopes and keep them in the binder. Jot notes, doodle while on the train or plane or whatever, keep it all by day, and then you have memorabilia/momentos.... and journaling notes for later. You can scan everything in later, or make a PL style album when you get home.
