Transformers #2....

Was kick ass! It had some mild cussing and sexuality so if you're opposed to that I wouldn't take the younger kids (we took ours though..LOL!) But overall it was fantastic, hilarious and super fun..made me stressed a bit though cuz I'm cool like that!

A summer must-go!

Oh and they had the trailer for New Moon too ;) Jacob's abs on the big screen *swoon*

I was hoping someone would post about this. I read our local newspaper today and they gave it a one star rating. I was so disappointed because I really loved the first one. I'm glad to hear you liked it!!!! :)

I so need to see if Andrew's cousin can watch Devin while we go see this. I'm willing to take JP, but not Devin.

I'm hoping that I can offer Jordan up a trade of some sorts to go see that this weekend. *wink wink* :p I REALLY want to see it on the big screen, but he's SUPER opposed to paying for movies when we essentially have 2 movie theaters in our own house, lol.

Maybe we can catch a matinee saturday afternoon......

Anyway, sorry, rambling, I REALLY WANT TO SEE THIS!!!!

Oh yay! I'm so glad you posted this because I read that it was bad too today and was bummed because I loved the first one. I can't wait, maybe we'll go to Chunky's Friday night!

Ok well, I have to add that P and I are easily entertained...don't go looking for a storytelling masterpiece or the greatest drama of our time..um hello it's an action flick based on a toy!

We can't wait!!! It's coming to our drive in movie theater 4th of July weekend...we are so THERE!!!!

BTW....my 4 year old LOVED the first one and most of the "iffy" stuff in that movie went over his head...all he cared about were the ginormous awesome robots!!! :D :D

Yeah it goes over mine's head too but there was definitely more of it in this movie...but it was all in the form of joke, kwim?

We are both so anxious to go! I have my yard sale on Saturday, and we're hoping I'm not too tired to go on Sunday. I LOVED the first one, and just can't wait!

When #1 came out I had NO desire to see it... my DH on the other hand was so excited! He literally dragged me to the theatre (almost kicking and screaming, lol), and to my surprise I LOVED IT! SO much that I made him buy it for our collection, lol.

And I'm not sure who is more excited about #2... me or him, lol! I was literally jumping up and down yesterday (not a pretty sight, lol), and he was like what's your problem?? And I got up in his face and yelled "Transformer's 2 is out tomorrow!!!!!!!". He thought that was pretty funny, lol!

I just got back from watching it tonight! I absolutely loved it. Everything was bigger and better!! So freakin funny with all the little jokes. one of the best movies this year.

So Transformers 3 anyone?!?

Hey Traci...can you give me a bit of a "heads up" on the sexuality part...what to expect and when? I've got a teen that is bugging me to go...but that last one had a part (totally uncalled for scene in my book) that caused a conversation later. Just want to know what it is about so I can prepare him for it...he's really sensitive/doesn't want to know about some things... so if you don't mind...either post here or PM me...pretty please!

Thanks!

Here Sharon, it's a pretty big spoiler so I'll write it in white and you can highlight it with your cursor to read it :)

There's the typical boy/girl kissing between the two main characters but there's also a Decepticon disguised as a hot freshman girl who keeps coming on to Sam and there's a scene with a lot of innuendo, there's also some straddling and the beginning of making out but nothing ever happens and there's no nudity. Oh there's also a nice shot of Megan Fox's butt on a motorcycle and a male character in a thong. LOL And the mom buys a pot brownie and it has a pot leaf on the bag..

Hope that helps :)

I cannot wait to see it when it comes out on DVD. My daughter went to see it today with one of her friends. Havent asked if she liked it or not though. Im sure she did because she loved teh first one.

Jeff and I are going on Friday for our anniversary and I'm so stoked! I have a very innapropriate crush on Shia LeBouf. :D

so Ethan is 6.5yrs old.... appropriate?
My hubby doesn't really think so but I might be able to convince him it is ok for me to take him!

Yes it does Traci! Knowing this info...I can talk to both of my teens and prepare them for a few parts that could make them uncomfortable...and warn them of the "surprise"...they will do better being prepared for that since it definitely would surprise them (and consequently cause a very loud exclamation during the movie!)...and a good chance to talk about the dessert. I am positive they have never heard of such a thing. Thank you!!

We took our 5 and 3 year olds and all the "bad" stuff was over their heads. We tend to be pretty lax though. Well, not super lax but laxer than some :)

Kim, I haven't seen it yet, but would NOT feel comfortable taking my 6½ year old to see it. It's a serious stretch for me to even take my 9½ year old to this one.

Anyway, I do tend to be very conservative about movies. It's a rare exception when my boys get to watch something PG-13 at this point. When I'm on the fence, I check two websites for reviews.

http://www.commonsensemedia.org/movieeviews/transformersevenge-fallen#
http://www.kids-in-mind.com/t/transformersrevengeofthefallen.htm

The first site offers their own review, as well as reviews and "grading" by parents and kids who've seen the movie. The second site is more conservative and without parent/child reviews, but it's very thorough.

Hope that helps!

Movies like Transformers are tough - cause they do so much marketing to kids but then the movies aren't always kid-appropriate! Drives me nuts! Traci - I totally know what you mean about stuff going over kids heads - I'm sure at 3 and 5 yours didn't walk away with any thoughts about the girl-boy stuff, it's all robots and cool action. I'm finding it gets harder as they get older....and not all PG-13's are equal.

Just some rambling...no real point LOL.

Benjamin is so mild mannered, the violence between robots doesn't seem to bother me. That might make me terrible, but it seems different to me than "people" fighting and killing each other (ie war movies, etc). I don't know why this is LOL!

As for the f-bomb, well, I will admit he hears it here occasionally :p

They do make it sound worse! I remember when I was first heard about sites like that I went and read a parent's review of The Incredibles and it sounded awful - totally like something that would be too scary for my toddler/preschool kids and yet - it was *fine*, my kids loved it.

I don't usually use them because of that factor...I tend to rely more on word of mouth from other moms.

LOL ok I don't remember the F-Bomb at all..LOL Is that bad? I'm immune to cussing..and my kids will hear it around here too..

I guess my philosophy is that if my kids repeat words I don't like, it's a good teachable moment in their life to explain what bad words are and why they shouldn't use them. IMO, that works better for us then trying to keep them from hearing them in the first place since it seems like almost everyone around here cusses nowadays. We were walking down the street and we passed a guy saying Eff this and Eff that and my kids were right there, LMAO. I was like..geez louise!

I just want to clarify that I wouldn't take Devin to see Transformers even without those sites. I am truly very conservative about what my kids are allowed to watch. (They had to wait to see Tale of Desperaux until it came out on DVD so that we could screen it first.) More often than not, when I do read those reviews, they just confirm my choice rather than sway me one way or another.

I haven't seen the movie yet (but I can't wait for this weekend when I will!) however my SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD son said he thought the sex and sexual jokes were over the top and unneeded. He said it would have been way better without all that. So take that for what you will. LOL

That's totally cool Leila - I think everybody has to find the spot where they are most comfortable. I would guess I'm probably conservative by Traci's standards but lax by yours LOL! I am slightly cliche in that I don't mind "action movies" for the kids but I don't allow them to see any sexuality (you know the old "violence is ok as long as there's no nudity" ha!). Language is a tougher call - 99% of the time it flies over their heads but when it's repeated constantly then it's annoying and more likely to get their attention.

I think I am just one of those middle of the road moms that wants everyone to feel good about their choices LOL.

One of my friends went and he said that it was ok, but it was like one big commercial. Not just placed in the scene, but like a close up shot of the car make every time it pulled up. lol
