....literally. And not just any mountain, but the tallest one in Vermont. Of course I didn't know that it was the tallest one when I signed up for the race. I just thought, how bad can it be. What's the worst thing that can happen, I end up walking up it. It's only 4.3 miles. Not much more than a 5K. Hah. Well, I woke up at 430am to get there in time. Though the drive was gorgeous watching the sun break through the clouds and mist and clear from the mountains. I got there and one of the parking attendants assured me that the worst part was the first part. He said its not bad once you get off the pavement and that is .3 miles into the race. Clearly this man never ran or walked up this mountain. It was very much steep uphill the whole way. I managed to run some of it, but most of it was power walking. I finished in 1 hour and 18 minutes. I very proud of myself. Though my ankle is throbbing and I'm sure there will be other muscles screaming tomorrow. It was so worth it. And they had a BBQ afterwards(that was freaking awesome) and I won a pair of trail running sneakers in the raffle! Woot! Now I'm off to drag my weary self to bed!
