To all my CS girls

I bought CS4 because I wanted to do text on a path. And I have mentioned that desire a few times. So, I just registered for Lynda.com and watched the tut. Why did no one tell me it was an illustrator thing and not a photoshop thing? Is there a way to do it in photoshop? Am I misunderstanding?

You can do text on a path in PS. I have CS4 and do it all the time! :) There's a great tut here on it.

From what I've heard, it can be done in elements, too- the newer ones at least from what I understand :)

You can definitely do it in CS4. I do it all the time....and it is agreat feature because you can type the text....and then adjust it....meaning....you can move the text along the path so that you can get just the right placement. It rocks!

So, I guess what I need to know is, can you make the path in photoshop?
I am looking to do my journaling around my layout. I am thinking something like this

or this

I hope Darcy and Leila don't mind me using thier layouts as examples.

To do what Darcy and Leila did above - you can create any selection you like - with the shape tools, marquee tools, etc. Once you have the selection outline (marching ants) you can click the Path tab in the Layers palette, click on the little triangle that is pointing down and choose Make Path to turn your selection into a path (you can use 1 in the pop up box that comes up after that). Then click the Text tool from the tool box and hover inside the path you just created and click when you see the cursor turn into a (). You should then be able to type text inside that path. You can use the stuff in the Character and Paragraph palettes to help you get the spacing and alignment just like you want it. HTHs If not let me know :)
