How are you all passing your time now if you were you on it? Are you missing it at all?
I have a Samsung phone that we converted to Mexico/El Salvador for travel. We bought sim cards for it so I can still use either one for the app.
I do get all my content from said countries, I'm reminiscing & I just search for content as needed. :wub:
 
My daughter is missing it. I only used it to browse the fun videos. But I have a feeling it will be back sooner than later.

I agree I use it for travel, recipes & news that isn't on news channels:o

It's def hard with posting to groups and using IG for posts as well. I haven't seen alot of great alternatives but I'll def keep my eyes open... :hugs:

Yeah my kids all are missing it. My oldest daughter did pretty well on TT, she's def bummed about it and my other kids just loved it for entertainment or learning stuff they didn't get in college classes.
 
I didn't download it so I'm not really affected. But I remember some of my friends re-sharing some cute and funny videos from tiktok on facebook especially during covid, and I enjoy watching some of them. I also read a lot of news before, like how people at home we're using tiktok to pass time because of covid they cannot go out. I just feel sad for them. But yeah, I also saw a post that tiktok is in the process of restoring it.
 
I’m not on Tik Tok. Not because I don’t think I’d like it but because I do think I’d like it and I have enough time wasters. I have been watching the updates on this and will be interested to see how it plays out next week with the new President.
 
Never downloaded it mainly because I was concerned about the China aspect of it. So I'm not missing it at all. Even though it appears to be coming back, it may only be for 90 days. Will be interesting to see what happens then.

But I'm not one to spend all day on SM anyways. I have IG but only look at it with my computer browser, and I don't post to it. I'm on FB for family. I don't have X/Twitter either so I have no SM apps on my phone.
 
It is back now due to an extension. I do go on Tik Tok but more to pass time and scroll when I am bored. I can go days without being on there and then scroll for hours. I do like to follow certain people that in the areas of homesteading, gardening, farming, chickens, etc. I do learn a lot and don't get as annoyed watching stuff there as I do on YT, etc. that keeps getting interrupted with ads. But if Tik Tok went away I will live. I am not that tied to it haha. I do my work stuff on IG and FB haha.
 
I've never used it because I was always afraid of downloading another app that I knew would be a time suck since I have no self-discipline. :D
 
I miss it! That said, I saw that it was back for the time being. I was actually posting on there as an affiliate and making a very tiny amount of money on it. Was looking forward to hopefully turning that it into a slightly larger amount of income, but oh well. Not a big deal.

I haven't been paying close attention to the whole ordeal, but some of my kids are pretty heated about the banning and are not wanting to use Meta apps now. I personally don't know how I'd "ban" Meta from my life - Instagram is my fave, I use Facebook to keep in touch with family, and we have a Meta Quest that we use regularly.
 
Canadian - so nothing has changed for me. But while I have it, I don't go on it very often - like Tracie I have no self control and can't be trusted to go on there (I'll lose HOURS if I do lol)
 
I deleted mine when they announced the ban, I but I miss the mindless scrolling, but I scrapped 3 pages this morning & started my new book.
 
I was able to access it until late yesterday evening...so I doom scrolled as much as I could and screenshotted the profile pages of my favorite creators.

I don't trust that it's going to be the same app. Shou no longer has CEO in his profile. If it's taken over by Elon or Marc...I'm out. That's a big no for me and I think that's probably what is happening.
 
No one in my house uses... so not a thing for us, but I imagine there were some sad folks. short lived, but sad.

I miss reading books but then I don’t bc I’d have a mini library bc I can’t do the whole audio thing. I def love the scrolling process of it I do use search a lot

Library books ... either physical books or I borrow eBooks and read them on my Nook.
 
I have never had and missed all the hoopla. I am so out of touch, but some of that is on purpose because of how messed up so many things are. I told my son to tell me if anything important was going on in the world that I need to be aware of. LOL
 
I tend to watch the reels I see and get sucked into those on FB, I don't go to TT to watch them. I am so out of the loop about what is going on out there. . . safe in my little bubble, lol
 
I didn't get a chance to really miss it since we were on a trip during the ban, but I def would have. I really like it for all the crafting and food stuff and my daughter convinced me to start posting my crafting and sewing on there. I'm not real good at making the videos or anything but its fun to connect with other sewist and crafters.
 
I only see TikTok videos if they are cross posted via Facebook or Instagram. I've never made an account. My hubby had one when it was first a thing, and he lost himself for HOURS and HOURS on it. The one thing I loved about it was that he would say he was going to bed, and then I'd hear giggling and then outright laughing hysterically. My hubby has THE best laugh.

As far as Meta companies, I'm staying where I'm at, but if there is another alternative that comes, I will certainly investigate it. I've invested too much time and work into both FB and IG, and don't want to lose connections I've made there.
