Thoughts on the Pantone colour of 2014?

So the colour of 2014 is a pinky purple colour, you can see here:

What do you think?

I'm okay with it for my 7 year old's clothes and maybe a small accent piece for me (a scarf? Weekend handbag?). Wouldn't be able to use it in home décor though.

i wasn't impressed with the color they chose for last year [this year] either... bleh.
 
I don't like the more lavender version but I don't mind the more jewel toned one. I'd just like to know which color it actually is since it doesn't seem like they agree even on their own site, haha.
 
I'm probably the wrong person to ask since purple is my absolute FAVORITE color, and also have my bedroom panted a BRIGHT (mostly pink) pinky-purple called "Hot Lips."

I'm in love with the choice. As soon as I saw it, I considered repainting my living room in the new shade (it's currently a turquoise, which I fell in love with when trying to find an emerald I loved after being so inspired by the 2013 color of the year).
 
I know someone who totally LOVES IT!

I agree with that!

But, you know... speaking of this year's color, I didn't notice an upswing in more emerald stuff all over the place. I don't see Pantone's royal degrees affecting my life all that much. ;)
 
I like it mostly. But I'm another one who likes purple in almost every form. :)
 
To me, it's the purple in this kit by Erica, right???

I do love the color (like I said) and I'm actually wearing a shirt that exact shade right now. Haha...
 
I love purple, so I'm good with it. Who know I was so trendy...I just bought myself a shirt in the jewel toned color they're showing, and we're in the middle of redoing a bathroom in that lavender color.

purple is all over the place in our house and the pantone one is very dominant in our bed room. it's pretty peaceful, especially when paired with greyish blue.

purple is one of my faves. but i love all colors. just am not attracted to some color combos.
 
I think Brook is right. The only color that is good for is girls under 15. I am sure justice is all over that!! Not for me.
 
i like it too … i think it's an awesome accent color. but i really liked last year's color too .. i think i just really like color overall .. .my clothes and my home are neutral bases (white, grey and black) with lots of pops of color … i just don't like primary colors or colors like forest green or burgundy.
