Those Wacom tablets...

...who has one and do you use it a lot? I'm thinking about asking for one for my birthday next month. I used to draw all the time when i was younger and wonder if I would get a lot of used out of it. Or if i still have the talent, lol. I see that the Bamboo one is only $79. Thats not bad, definitely possible for me to get one, lol. I just don't want to get one and then rarely use it.

I love my Wacom. It has completely replaced my mouse for me, so I use it for just about everything. It makes extractions and other detail work much easier.

It is also much better than a mouse for drawing. I don't know what program(s) you use, but no matter what tool you have (tablet/mouse) Photoshop is still a bit cumbersome as a drawing program. There are many other programs out there for drawing - Adobe Illustrator being the 'big one' but their are cheaper options that are more straightforward. Artrage is one and others here may be able to suggest more options.

More information than you asked for, but I hope it helps a little.

I just started using the Bamboo Fun tablet about a month ago, and I really like it! It does take some getting used to at first, but now like Misty said, I use it as my mouse. Haven't gotten brave enough to try drawing with it yet. LOL! I did download Art Rage a couple weeks ago though, so I may have to try it out. :)

I use mine all the time, mostly for detail editing of photos- love it! (have the regular one, not bamboo)

I don't even know how to use a mouse now....I LOVE my bamboo fun and would not know what to do without it !!!!!

Just got a bamboo and am loving it!
Takes a little getting used to but I am starting to use it constantly!

I have used a tablet for about 3 years. I started out with the Grapphire. I like it, however it is a little small and doesn't have as much control as I'd like. I still use it at school. I use it to mark up power point presentations. The kids think I'm really cool too! LOL

I use at home the Wacom Intuos 6x8 tablet . I purchased this back when I was designing. I LOVE it. It's perfect for use with my desktop computer. The control that I have with my pen is amazing.

Now if anyone feels like dropping a few pennies my way, I'd love to get this....
Cintiq.

The Bamboo seems like a great product!!!

I'm looking at getting the Bamboo fun. Comes with some software and has a mouse too. Plus pretty colors, lol. and i'm loving the looks of that Artrage software. $25 is a pretty good price for a neat looking program.

After two years of constant use, I just got a replacement Intuos. I saw those Cintiqs when I was ordering and told my husband I was just going to get one of those instead. He just about fell over :) I love pulling his chain.

For those who may be wondering, I'm sure the tablets usually last longer than two years, but I'm a klutz and spilled one too many cups of coffee on mine :)

I have one and I use it alot!!! I love it for brushwork and even better for touching up photos. I bought mine a long time ago, when they first came out and it is one of the smaller ones, but I still love it. You cant' go wrong with a Wacom!!! It does take a little getting use to it at the beginning, but once you get a feel for it, it is a piece of cake, :)

I just dug this thread up. I have a graphire that has been collecting dust but I just started using it again and like it. I'm used to scraping with the mousepad on my lappy- so using the pen isn't that hard to get used to.

Does anyone know of other programs that make tablets more useful? I'm going to check into as many as I can. :) thanks!

I'm really wanting to get a tablet, and thought abotu the Bamboo Fun. It's a good price, but I just keep droooooling over the Cintiq :)
