We got our 1st American Girl catalogue in the mail today. My friend told me that one day they started receiving these.

hmm, would it hurt to let Lily look at the catalogue? I have no clue what to get her for Christmas . . . hmm . . . wonder if she'd like one of these . . . maybe a Bitty Baby . . .

One day I would like to take her to a tea thingie at AG Place.

Anyway, are these worth it? Tis on the pricey side . . .

Lily is 4 btw.

american girl is so cool. i wanted one sooo bad when i was little, mom said no. too expensive. :( i would love maddie to have one.

I still get the catalogue and my daughter is 16 almost 17 (less then a month off 17 now) I would like one for myself they are so cute LOL. I like the little hippy girl (from the 1960's).

If I were a real girl, I'd love American girls!! LOL If we had a daughter, it would probably be the only doll kind of thing we'd want to do with her. Sure, they're expensive, but they hold up well, there is a legacy in the toy line to last for quite awhile...and you don't step on those darned shoes in the middle of the night that were left in the hallway.

AG stuff rocks.

If you let Lily look through the catalog be prepared for her to ask for one of everything in it lol! Every single time we get one in the mail that is pretty much what I hear from the girls, the stuff is adorable though!

Kaylie has one of the bigger Just Like You dolls and a Bitty Baby and Kelsie has the Bitty Twins (boy/girl) and a Bitty Baby and they play with them all the time. Lily & Kelsie are the same age so she'd probably like one of the Bitty Babies or the Bitty Twins. The dolls are the same size, just one is a baby and the other is a toddler and the clothes are interchangeable between the dolls too which is nice.

My almost 5 yo wants an AG doll b/c her cousins (7 & 9 yo) have one and grandpa said she could have one too. :D

I'm thinking of steering her toward the bitty twins... I would just hate for her to get an actual AG doll & then it get damaged or such. How sturdy are they? Did I mention I have a 2.5 yo?

Each of our girls have an AG doll, that we bought in Chicago. Amelia takes hers everywhere the past few months, and absolutely loves it. They are well made IMO, and very good quality.

Jamie, did you see the Mia figure skater doll? I thought of you immediately!

Ok, i let Lily look at catalog. And out of everything this is what she liked.

She def liked the Bitty Babies better than the girl dolls. She thought those were weird :D.

I had Samantha; she was so beautiful, and I loved her. I think I still have her laying aournd the attic somewhere. You want me to send her to you, Meems?

Oh, I just read that she didn't like the dolls. Fine, I'll keep it. I'll save it for the daughter I'll never have.

aww, thanks . . . but you should keep the doll. She's being retired! maybe you can ebay her later!

that's the spirit!

Mimi, I did see her, I think we're getting it for me...I mean Amelia for Christmas LOL.

We bought Rae the Samantha doll, she isn't into it yet, but at least it's out of the box now LOL

Samantha's being retired?!?! That's about the saddest thing I ever heard. She's the one I always wanted. Maybe I'll have to buy her for when my girls get older...

They're very sturdy -- it'd be hard to damage an AG doll. We had a bitty baby and they are kinda freaky looking. Now, we've moved on to the regular ones and I like that one a lot better!
