The Walking Dead - I have a question!

So, we recently got sucked into The Walking Dead on Netflix. We are down to the season 2 finale (EEEE!), and we can't wait to move on to Season 3. Now, I understand that in real time, we're only 1/2 way through season 3, so I would have a LONG time to wait for it to come to Netflix next year.

We are looking at buying the individual episodes of season 3 on Amazon to catch us up to real time, but I'm wondering what to do after that (we don't have cable)...

When the new episodes start back in February, are they available online anywhere? It didn't look like they were on hulu, and amctv.com didn't have any full episodes either. Do they have them when they aren't on hiatus?

If they aren't available, I'll just pay for the season pass and watch them through Amazon instant. But if they ARE available, I don't mind just watching them online and saving the $$.

Any ideas?

They may be available the week of airing, Libby, on Hulu - unless they did that just for the season opening episodes til they got the Dish contracts done. But no other legal way that I know of except as a season pass.

I haven't found another way, either, Libby :(

We've been watching it on Netflix, too, and have only watched the first episode of season 3 because it was available online. We didn't think that our cable package included AMC, but it turns out that it does and we can even watch the last few episodes on demand. Unfortunately, we realized this only after episodes 2-5 were no longer available. So, we'll be waiting for season 3 to come out on Netflix and have a Walking Dead marathon so that we can start watching season 4 (assuming there is a season 4) when it airs.

The Walking Dead is one of the strangest shows as far as online/On Demand viewing. I guess they have enough viewers they don't worry about making the episodes accessible. I know the episodes don't show up On Demand for us until almost a week after they aired. If you go to the AMC website, it redirects you to Amazon or iTunes to watch the current season episodes. I don't think there's any other options. Can you get AMC with basic cable here? It might be worth it to price out basic cable vs. paying for each episode at $2/each.

And yes, marathon on New Year's Eve and Day, I think. I'm getting Seasons 1 & 2 on DVD for Christmas, so I'm not sure we'll watch the marathon. Since our kids are teens, I don't usually worry about what we're watching but my youngest had a nightmare about zombies, so I may just watch the DVDs in my room when she's otherwise occupied...

You can only get them via Itunes or Amazon. When this season first started DISH had not come to terms with AMC and so we went ahead and got a season pass from ITunes..then 3 weeks in they put it back on DISH so we pretty much wasted 45 dollars. But yeah..they don't have them available streaming anywhere else at this time.

Ack! Apparently they did a Season 3 marathon on Dec. 2. They aired all the season 3 episodes, then the midseason finale (what the heck is a midseason finale?!). I should pay more attention :(

ETA: From what I'm reading, the marathon on New Year's Eve will be Season 1 and the first half of season 2.

I just bought season 1 on BluRay, now I have to get Season 2. I was hoping my son (my TV watching partner) would get into this show, but he doesn't seem to like it:( I don't stream TV as I tend to like marathons when I feel like them, so I do BluRays--or DVD collections if BD isn't available.

Dang, that stinks. I am in the same exact situation as Libby and want to find somewhere to watch the first half of season 3.

LOL This is not what I wanted to hear!

Kim, that's a good idea about looking into basic cable. I'm not sure if amc is included or not, but it might be worth investigating. I hate to think that I'll have to buy each episode from here on out if I don't want to wait a year for Netflix.

This is why I tend to try to only watch shows on Netflix that have already been canceled. LOL

Well we are not completely caught up with the current season thanks to the Amazon Season Pass, and I'll just say it was WELL worth the money! LOL I hope maybe they'll change their streaming options for season 4, but for now I'm happy.
