she handles things A LOT better than the others for being outnumbered the way she is, i never said she was perfect.

she really does I think. Whoopi seems to for the most part not have a whole lot to contribute in these discussions. I respect Elisabeth for putting her thoughts out there everyday and having them ripped to shreds and still sticking to her beliefs.

america is turning into a european socialistic communist society...is there something wrong with that picture. i think so.

Yep. Pretty soon we won't be allowed to buy guns and the ones we do have will be held at a local armory under the governments watchful eye, our alcohol and other vices that "aren't good for us" will be taxed even more, and we'll be giving even more of our hard earned money to "spread the wealth". :(

I wonder if there's a tiny little island that I can move to where I will be exempt from all of this...

I'm all for moving to Little Ponds Cay!!!!!!! (johnny depp's private island) :D

yes all the republicans are going to say she's respectful and better than the rest! got it!

at least I say they ALL suck :P

i'll move with you, kat! traci said that if mccain wins the election shes moving to ireland. that was my line when i thought hilary was gonna win. lol at this point if obama wins i honestly pray for families life above and beyond the tax issues, etc. i honestly fear for our lives! joe biden said it best. too bad he doesn't even have faith in his running mate.

this statement actually scares me...I believe it could become true. I am getting a concealed weapons permit and believe in my right to defend myself, my loved ones and my home. And the worst part is the ones who you have to fear owing guns;the criminals; are not going to stop buying them. They do not go through a legal gun purchase. Their guns are either stolen or purchased on the street. So I might just join 'ya on that island. Or way up in the mountains!!

That is true. However with a Democratic House and soon to be liberal Supreme Court Justices, he can pretty much do just that...

The majority of supreme court members are conservative because of the justices Bush has appointed in the past 8 years. I don't think you can rely on that argument.

Exactly. I told DH last night "Good luck to whoever tries to take our guns from us. I have a feeling that most people will probably protest violently and the people trying to actually take our guns will probably be dead before they could even try." I sure as heck am not letting someone come into my house to take mine....

anna. don't do it. don't get involved. it'll only ruin your day. i can vouche for that. :(

dear political threads at ssd,

while i feel i am a very patriotic citizen of these 50 united states. i can no longer play with you. my feelings towords this election are strong, everyone knows what they are, therefore i am choosing to no longer share them. it's been real.

peace out.

interesting. I feel the threads have all been pretty bland and respectful, with a few exceptions here and there. I'm sorry if anyone is offended. I know I'm not offended by other people's points of view, it's what makes us all great!

I'm not relying solely on that argument at all. I think that that compiled with the fact that the House is run by the Democrat party and with a Democrat (and in my eyes a Socialist) President that could have a major negative impact on the American people.

The current Supreme Court has nine justices, including seven nominated by Republicans. Four were nominated by a Bush, one by Gerald Ford and two by Ronald Reagan. Two were nominated by Bill Clinton. (copied from Wilkipedia)

So I guess if Obama wins and appoints 4 new justices, the Supreme Court will be about even?

I agree with this 100% Traci!!! I'm sorry if I have offended anyone. But I am entitled to my own opinions. :D Now, I'll go back to work and leave this thread alone... hehehe

I don't watch the view but I have been in waiting rooms and relatives or friends houses who have had it on and they all just get on my last nerve! I don't like any of them! But regarding other stuff said here:

america is turning into a european socialistic communist society...is there something wrong with that picture. i think so.

Couldn't agree more (not just with this but with everything you said) and it bothers me horribly. :( SO SAD.

On Joy:
It's like she thinks if you arent a liberal then you dont have the right to have an opinion

All of my liberal (non-online) friends and family are like this and it drives me bonkers! They won't let any of us "others" have one word in. And if we say stuff that actually makes sense they try to totally change the subject!

Yep. Pretty soon we won't be allowed to buy guns

This is something that hubby and I are totally worried about too. Like you said, Jessica, if they try to take them away all the "criminals" will get them elsewhere like they already do. But look at what those in other countries do where guns are banned...they go around killing with machetes and such.

It's not like he's going to take office and immediately appoint 4 justices. Are 4 even retiring over the next 4 years????

yes that is why I do not understand the argument to ban guns. Well anyhow my son is due home in oh about 10 minutes and I have to get him off the bus. If Im not out there they take him back to school LOL (not that thats not a bad idea on some days :p ) So have fun yall and try not to let what anyone else says offend you. it is just their opinion and you have yours. That is what is so great about this country we are all entitled to have our own opinions and are not told we cannot believe the way we do no matter how we believe

I'm not offended at all I just come here to get away from it all and when I unknowingly open political threads it annoys me. Although the background on that is that I am a political campaign consultant so I work to get people elected and I am in the process of leaving that career behind because of the high stress level so I guess I am more intolerant right now than I should be.

It's possible that a few will retire within the first year or two of the new term... Justice John Paul Stevens will turn 89 in December. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 75. Justices Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy and Stephen Breyer are in their 70s. Justice David Souter has never has been a fan of life in the capital city. Stevens and Ginsburg are considered the most likely to step down the soonest.

This would leave me to believe that there will be at least a few openings in the next few years.

Definitely understandable. {{{HUGS}}}

this is true, t. and to clarify i'm not upset at anyone, not one little bit, (particularly my girl, traci reed...she knows this) or sad that anyone else has a different view than me. i (being the sassy latino irish chick that i am) have a hard time controlling my own passion, i sometimes turn that into a raw anger about our nation and where i feel it's headed. no hard feeling to those that think differently, at all. t knows all this, just a little clarification for everyone else who i don't see eye to eye with. i feel like for the next 13 days i want to focus on the fact that nov 4th is my birthday, not potentially our countrys' dooms day. ahahahahahahaha!! :D:D:D

Oh my gosh... I HATE The View! I do think it's unfair for the hosts to be unevenly distributed... whether it's for conservatives or liberals. I don't watch enough to comment on the one conservative on the show, but Barbara Walters annoys the CRAP out of me. Is she still on there? Seems there's always some sort of drama between her and a co-host.

I've been avoiding facebook lately because there are two idiots who constantly post notes. One is all crazy in love with Obama and one is all crazy for McCain. I get so annoyed when I read them because all they ever post about is the ridiculous stuff. They're both ignorant and totally unwilling to actually RESEARCH anything about the other side. The McCain lover keeps posting that Obama isn't really a US citizen. Annoys me to death.

I am a conservative... but to be honest, not really thrilled with this election. I guess I'm so fed up with this economy and the way things are headed that I'm not sure anyone will "fix" anything. I am anxiously awaiting Nov 5th when we can all be friends again. :D

it is my nephew's bday too!! He will be 21 :-)

I used to love it when Rosie was one (what can I say, I have always been a huge Rosie fan lol) but I can't stand it anymore. i also used to like Joy but i agree, they are getting ruder and ruder to each other and especially to Elizabeth. I don;t typically agree with Elizabeth on most issues but she never offends me either andI feel bad for her.

I am glad someone else values this right too!! I am proud to say that I am a Smith & Wesson packing, family tree climbing, digital scrapbooking mama!!

I'm not a fan of the View either, but I have watched it off and on and Elizabeth Hasselback is most definitely outnumbered and in general she is MUCH more respectful to the others than they are to her. I honestly can't figure out why she's still there and taking the abuse.
