Hi all, I've been a little MIA lately ... computer problems, general chaos of life, etc. Timothy is doing great and is learning and growing every day. He's really making a lot of progress developmentally and is doing all of the things babies should be doing. He's maybe a couple of months behind because of his hospitalizations, trach and having Down syndrome, but in all, he's a happy little guy.

We found out today that he probably will need heart surgery soon, though, to correct a hole in his heart. We've known this is a possibility since even before he was born, but it looks like it will be sooner rather than later -- probably this fall sometime. I'm a little freaked out about it even though I know that as heart surgeries go, this one is pretty routine and easy. But it's still my baby's HEART, you know!?!?

So, we'd love your prayers and encouraging words ... and designers, MORE doctor/hospital kits are always good! :) I've used so many already. :)

Aw, Kara! I am so sorry he has to have surgery!!! :( I will definitely be praying. He is such a cutie... such a strong boy, we've definitely seen his unbelievable strength. ;) I feel like he will do great through the surgery, but I know what you mean about it being your baby's heart... you will likely be suffering the most. Big HUGS!!
 
I'm sorry he has to have the surgery! Sending P&PT for him. And I second the medical kit request, though I'd also love one that's more focused on therapy (speech, physical, behavioral, etc) than shots and medicines.
 
i want to squish and kiss his cheeks. :) i am sorry he's going to have heart surgery. heart issues run in my husbands family and many of my nieces and nephews have had holes repaired. good luck to you and the family! many prayers for you all!

Sending lots of prayers! Surgeries are scary, regardless of how routine they are.
 
He is just so adorable. I love the baby fuzz for hair on the top of his head. You and him and your family are in my prayers for the surgery, and also for the praise for how much he is growing and learning each day!!
 
Prayers from here. It's always harder on the mama when the babies are that age. But knowing it doesn't make it any easier!!
 
Hope the surgery is successful!! I have been wondering how you and your family have been managing since I had not see an update here in awhile. Let us know how it goes...will be thinking of you and your little man

Will definitely keep you all in my thoughts. I'm so sorry he has to have surgery. He seems like a tough, little dude though.
 
Aw, he looks adorable! I'm so sorry he has to go through this surgery. I'm sure it is going to be much harder on you than him, but at least you know that at such a young age, he won't remember any of this when he gets a little older.
 
Aw Kara I'm sorry about the surgery and I know it must make you so worried but everything will go just fine I'm positive. He is so adorable and it's so great to hear that he's making progress. You absolutely have my prayers!
 
Kara, my lifelong best friend has a daughter who had a lot of issues with her heart and had to have 4 open heart surgeries in her first year of life. She is now going on 4 years old and is a happy, healthy (for the most part) beautiful young girl. Thanks to the power of prayer and positive thinking! With that being said I want you to know that my family will pray for yours as well. You have a strong little fighter in your son. :)
 
What a handsome little guy! He looks so happy. I am sorry he has to have heart surgery so soon. I can't imagine how scary that is. I will keep him in my thoughts.
