Text inside a path (PS CS5)

I dont know why this isnt working for me - I even checked the adobe help and I am doing what it says! I have created a shape with the pen tool, and now I am trying to get my text to go inside the shape. I can get it to go around the edge of the path, no problem - but it wont go inside!! The text tool is just supposed to show up with the correct mouse pointer when you hover inside the path, just like it does when you hover on the edge to go around it, but mine isnt doing that.
Anyone have any tips? Or can you see what I am doing wrong?

thanks!! for some reason I had to make my work path into a work path again...ugh. This is why I hate paths. LOL Got it now!

Melissa.... I know if might seem little, but you have the text tool selected? And you have the "shape" selected in the layers palette?

I hope you can get it figured out! It would drive me bonkers! I have to check out Misty's tutorial too... lol!

The same thing happened to me a while ago. I had been doing text in a path for years and suddenly it didn't work anymore. What worked for me then was to write inside a custom shape (an unfilled one) but ofcourse that had limitations. I have no idea what else I did, but after a while it suddenly worked again, phew! Interesting to hear the part about the working path, I need to remember that!
