Template question

Hello!
I've not used templates before other than the ones that have open areas which you simply paste a photo behind it then adjust, crop, re-size if needed. I'm using one now where you select the space holders, float, defloat then paste photos into the selections which is all new to me. (I use Paint Shop Pro X4). I can't figure out how to re-size the photo after I bring it into the selection if its too small. I've tried re-sizing it before pasting it but that does no good. Still comes in the same smaller size.

Can someone possibly explain me if I can do this? I've attached a screen shot of my template and a photo I pasted in which I would like to be larger while keeping it within the same border.

I'm sure this is a simple thing... just can't figure it out!

don't paste the photo into the selection. paste it as a new layer. then you can resize it. where you selected the space to put your photo will still be there.

Hmmm... I hope someone familiar with your program comes along soon. In photoshop, you just clip the photo to circle shape, and size it as usual - I'm guessing that's not an option in your program?

press control + L or control + v after selecting the layer you want it to be above. Use this script to automatically cut it to your selection:

If you dont want to use the script it is easy to do without. Once you paste just click on the magic wand selection tool and click the layer under the photo. Then click outside of the shape in that layer and simply hit delete.

That helped!

That bit of info helped me work through it some... I'm pretty sure there is still a better way to do it. I know most use Photo Shop. The pasting as a new layer did the trick. Here is what I'm doing in case someone else has more input to speed it up:

1. Make the circle area transparent that I will pasting the photo INTO.
2. Paste the photo to a new layer BEHIND the circle.
3. Re-size and position the photo to fit inside the circle how I want.
4. Copy the photo on the new layer.
5. Undo the transparency on the circle layer, select ALL, float, de-float.
6. Paste the newly copied image INTO the selection.
7. Delete the new layer I created to paste the photo on for re-sizing.

Though a bit long it works! Thanks so much!

That indeed speeds it up a good deal without having to use the float, defloat stuff! I do have to paste the image behind the circle I want to shape it too then lower the transparency of said circle so I can see how I need to adjust the photo size. But the magic wand speeds things up a bunch. I did it manually but I'll test out the script also. Thank you so much for the info and link.
