Tell me I'm not crazy

My DH and I are putting an offer on a house tonight. I am both excited and scared as h*ll with the economy the way it is. Tell me I'm not outta my mind - please??? I need some reassurance.

We were just approved for a mortgage and are breaking ground on a house soon - so no, I don't think you're crazy. :p

Seriously, tho, my take on it is that if we can afford it right now and don't want to wait a few more years - then we're gonna do it. If either of are jobs weren't stable (I use "stable" loosely b/c really, in my mind, nothing is truly stable any more), we would probably reconsider. But I also think that if we wait for the perfect time, that time will never come!

Good luck with the offer!!

Right now is the PERFECT time to buy if you feel that your financial situation is secure! Good luck on your offer!!!!

I don't think you're crazy at all. I believe that owning real estate is MUCH better than having money in the bank!

I agree..as long as you can afford it and you are pretty sure your job is not in jeopardy, then it's the PERFECT time to buy a house or land! If you are building, supplies are dirt cheap right now b/c they don't want to hold on to the inventory and big contruction is somewhat at a halt so they aren't buying!

Good luck!! :)

I tell you, if we had some spare change lying around, we'd be purchasing a 2nd house right now. Rates are amazingly low and property in many areas is a steal. Good luck!

I agree..the house we live in now was a flip that we fell in love with once we finished. So we put our home and this home on the market and in some crazy wave of events our home sold so we got to move in! We LOVE it..and the mortgage is dirt cheap b/c we bought it so low lol

I'd do it again in a heartbeat if my DH wasn't so darn busy with his real job lol

Yeah, if we could sell our home for a good price, we would totally buy a new home right now!!!!! I want to at least refinance, but we don't think we'll be in here long enough to make it worth it... so I'm just hoping the rates stay fairly decent for the next 3 years....

The only time buying a house is a bad idea is if its costs more than you can afford. Otherwise, its the perfect investment!

Congrats! How exciting!!

That's what I was going to say. If you can afford it, and you feel your situation is relatively stable, now is definitely a good time to buy!

We bought our house 8 years ago when the market here had bottomed out, and interest rates had just come way down. We got a steal in a great neighbourhood, and now our mortgage payment is amazing ... way cheaper than any rental we could possibly find and way cheaper than your average current mortgage.

ya and well...now your in WISCONSIN. oye. :p right now is actually the PERFECT time to buy...if the offer is right and you know your getting a good price for your area then your doing the right thing!! wooohooo!!!

I agree with everyone else, if all is good and stable you definitely should!:)

Dh and I were just talking about putting our 4yr old home on the market and building a bigger home a few miles from where we currently are. I am scared to death to even have a little expectation or excitment though...

No, you aren't crazy, now is the time to be buying with interest rates so low. Plus I think inflation will go crazy soon and you won't be able to afford it if you wait. But, like everyone else is saying, don't go over your budget buying.

I think right now is the perfect time to buy if you can afford it and your job is stable. Interest rates are really low and homes are selling at great prices. It is defenitely more favorable for buyers right now!! Good luck and congratulations

I have been watching home values in the area where I live (Orlando, FL.) and Ive seen homes go just down the road from where I live from low 100's to mid 400's and now back down to low 100's in the last five years. It is crazy and honestly if we were able to I would invest in one or two homes right now. We are lucky as my husband bought our place when he turned 19 and we paid it off last year in march so we own ours outright now and if he had not lost his job last month we would probably be buying one right now too!!
