Teacher's Desk Sets

I asked the other day if you could cover pens and Bree provided me links! Thanks girl!

I made the following:

The pens and post-it note holders were the easiest - no glue, no tape, just print, trim and insert! I did follow a tip in the pen tut to use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to remove the writing from the barrel of the pen - and that worked wonders!

I created my notebook templates about half an inch larger all around so I could fold the edges over to the back side and wrap like a present. Then I just printed a solid blue piece and glued it on the inside cover to hide the folded over parts. I covered the front and back covers of the notebook. I used mod podge to adhere the paper to the notebook, but I tried a new (for me) varnish to seal it with that I liked a lot! I'll post something about that in a bit!

Next time try Staples full sheet sticker paper Heather. Print and stick!!!
I used sticker paper on my notebook and then used Krylon triple thick crystal clear sealer on mine here:

dd has dripped water on her's and it's not affected the notebook. Love the pens you did!!

wow, those turned out beautifully!

am I the only one puzzled by the spiral binding? how do you work around that? or did you bind it yourself?

I might have to hunt down those pens . ..

The spiral binding is easy to take care of. If you get the double spiral binding, just look inside the back cover and you will see where the rounded wire side meets the square wire side. Just pry them apart a bit with your fingers and remove the cardboard covers. Put the covers back on and bend the wires back together like new! It is easy!

You can remove single spiral bindings too but you will need pliers. You just use pliers to bend each end of the spiral wire straight and then make it sort of curve like all the other spirals in the binding. Then corkscrew the wire right out of the notebook. When you are finished, put the new covers in place, insert the wire and corkscrew the spiral back into place. Bend the ends of the wire back in like they were originally and you are done! HTHs

oooooh :lightbulb going on: thanks for explaining! the double spirals sound much easier to deal with.

I just saw this post- and being a teacher I can say those are the best gifts you can get a teacher! I'm stealing this idea too as my son and I are both moving to a new school next year- I'll get off to a great start with his kindergarten teacher!

What did you use to seal it?

oh how I LOVE these...and thanks SO much for letting me know that i can pull those things apart..i am always afraid to ...no clue why...and i usually just end up putting a ribbon up on the side of it to "hide" the usually hideous cover *gotta love those dollar store finds* PRECIOUS JOB..love it!!! xoxo
