Hi Everyone!

Does anyone do an end of the year teacher gift?

My oldest is graduating from 5th grade and I would really like to do something special (kind of thrifty, we are on a budget) for his teacher this year. His teacher has been wondeful and encouraging and I have to say the best teacher he has had so far.

I looked at Pinterest but a lot of the links go right to spam....grrr.

Any ideas? What are you doing?

For my son's Kindy teacher, we are making a book called What Will Mrs Klos Do This Summer?

Each kid is drawing a picture of something they think their teacher will do this summer and then the parent is purchasing a $5 gift card that somehow relates to the drawing.

I will back the pictures in scrapbook paper and put everything together in a notebook with the picture and giftcard and photo of the student.

For Abby's teacher.. I don't know yet. I have to come up with something.
 
I'm planning to take a small gift in every day during teacher appreciate week for my kids' main teachers. I am also sending in gifts for the aides in each room and for my daughter's past teachers (she's in 4th, my son is in kindergarten) because her past teachers helped so much in making her successful today that they need to be recognized too. Her kindergarten teacher is leaving after this year, moving away, so its a great time to take a minute and send a note of our appreciation.

I bought some SKOR candy bars and will tie them up with ribbon saying "I really skor-ed when I got you for a teacher". I can't remember everything else on my list. I need to pull out the list and go over it. I'm also sending in gifts for the principals at each of the three schools. I DID order notepads from Shutterfly for each teacher that says "from the desk of" and has their names printed on them. I also ordered each of this year's classroom teachers a mug with a picture of the class on it and made it a gift from the whole class. I ordered the main teachers Shutterfly desk organizers as well with our school logo on them and their name. I made calendars for the teachers for next year. They start in August and go through the following July so the teachers can use the same calendar all year at school. Each page has quotes about learning or education or teaching on them.

The most important thing though, truly, is a thank you note. Take a minute to TELL the teacher exactly how you feel. When my daughter was in kindergarten I wrote a note to her teacher, her substitute teacher (her teacher had a baby that year so we had a sub for quite a while) and to the principal. I got huge hugs from all 3 and was told that it meant so much to them to get that note. Every year now I sit down and write a heart felt note to the teachers and any other adults at school that work closely with my kids to let them know how much I appreciate them. :)
 
I bought small buckets (Target has a bunch in their $1 section right now), and I'll fill them with a gift card, a little notebook or post-its with a scrapped cover, and some coordinating pens and pencils. If I can't find nice, inexpensive school supplies, I'll bake some mini muffins to put into the buckets with the gift cards. The 5 teachers will get the bucket with gift card, and the 4 therapists will just get baked goods with a thank you card.
 
My dd and I did this for her teacher last year. Each fortune cookie had a personal message in it from Brooke. The little purse held the letter and a gift card. Ms Tait was so touched she cried.

Great ideas and very helpful...I am planning on having my son write a letter to his teachers this weekend too, so we can include with the gifts.
