Teacher Gifts?

Hey, girls...got a question for ya...need to pick your brains a bit, lol.

So, this is my first year ever being a parent with a kid in school, and our school year ends next week. I'm working on an album for Mason's teacher, since she's the main K teacher and also the school principal and is moving away at the end of the year, but I'd also like to thank the others that have made this year so special for Mason.

Would it be going too far if I gave a card/gift certificate to the secretary (I love her, she's totally awesome), both the teacher's assistants for the K class, and the librarian...as well as one for the teacher (since her album won't be given to her probably until fall, lol)? I was thinking a nice $20 GC to the big bookstore chain up here (Chapters) would be something they'd like.

What do you think? Is that too many people? I'm kinda iffy on the librarian...I've met her, she's a total sweetie, I think she's also got a kid in the K class (same last name, lol...but not 100% sure), and she totally adores Mason...but I'm not sure it's appropriate, kwim?

LMAO...I think I overthink things. :p HELP!

I would think it would be appropriate to give anyone whom you want to a gift.
If you feel strongly about their impact on Mason's school year and you can afford it then go ahead and gift away!
They will all love it I'm sure!

I don't think it is too many people. My kids' school has a "Staff Appreciation Week" a few weeks before school ends and that is usually when everyone brings in their gifts for whomever they like.

I'm just doing her teacher, but I don't know what to do! Maybe get a GC to a store in the mall that has teachers supplies and toys (Scholar's Choice) and get Kristen to make a card for her.

I just did my girl's two main teachers and their bus driver. I'm cheap like that :D because pretty soon I'm going to have 4 kids in school and I can't be giving everyone gifts. So I just hit the main ones that impact their life EVERYDAY.

I gave them all $10 dollar Family Video Gift cards, "tubs", a box of microwave popcorn and 2 boxes of "movie" candy. But both the girl's teachers are young (this was both their first year out of college teaching) and single (or dating) so I think it was a perfect gift, they both loved it.

I'm sure as their teachers change so will my gifts for them but I figured I spent about $20 bucks each on all three and that seems an appropriate amount!!!

I did everybody when dd was in K & 1st, this year when she was in 2nd I got lazy and just did her teacher.

I am a teacher and gift cards are really nice gifts. That way you can get what you need. All of those other teachers you mentioned would probably really appreciate the gift because they are often left out in that area.

It's incredibly nice of you to get even the teacher a gift. We don't get as many as we use to in the old days. LOL

I think those are all appropriate Bree! I did the teacher this year and both Wes' bus drivers, because I think they are awesome. We also did his two student teachers during the year.

I totally think it's fine to give to who you want to! When I could afford it I did all the main teachers, classroom, librarian, art, music, gym. I never really thought of the principal or vice principal but that is a very nice idea! I now am only doing my youngest's main teacher as my oldest is in Middle School now and has like 6 main teachers! LOL!

I used to do small stuff at the end of the year because I always did Christmas too. I give the teachers G/Cs to Barnes and Noble usually, the music teacher I gave some note shaped earrings (made sure she wore them first!), art teacher a Michael's g/c, gym teacher a sporting goods g/c, etc.

This year I'm making Josh's teacher a necklace since I couldn't find any of those wooden block desk calendars that I wanted to make her.

Oh! I forgot the bus driver! Doh! Maybe I'll make them $15 GC's, lol...

Now I just have to run the idea past DH and go pick up the GC's on Friday. :)

I got a $5 Starbucks gift card this year from the PTA - they gave them to all of the teachers for Christmas (I'm a teacher but I'm a Reading Resource Teacher & don't have a "class" so I usually get overlooked at gift-giving times), anyway I thought that was a really neat treat, so that might be a thought if you want to give several GC's and not spend a whole lot. I gave dd's teacher a $50 GC to Cheesecake Factory on the last day, but as I posted earlier, this was the first year that I didn't get gifts for support staff & administration too.

Okay, I went out today and bought her this. I hope no one else gets it for her!

That is awesome, I think I will get a few of those too!!

At christmas I give the whole staff room a giant basket of candies, and then just their teachers get gifts. Our school has so many Assistants that it is hard to keep track of who is in each class each day

I think I am going for the figurine and a Chapters GC

I'm sure they would love the gc. Especially to the book store. And I LOVE your album idea that you are making for the teacher. May have to steel that idea for my daughter when she starts school.
