Talk to me about BC

Kellie you're not alone. I can't handle the pill in any form. First it was because they made me crazy, mean, bloated, increased migraines, blah blah blah you name it. Later on top of that it just became a personal conviction because of the abortifacient risk. I'm hormonal enough without the extra dosage. So no pill for me. Condoms are not nice to my skin. We tried the sperm killer stuff and just got sick of that. Keep in mind, all of the above the first 2 yrs after dd was born.

So we used the oh so technical, stay away from me for a week or so every month. Watch the calendar for ovulation days type deal. My cycle is fairly regular within a few days or so. The past 2 years I haven't been even keeping up with that. If it happens it happens if it don't it don't.

I'm not much help am I?

I've been on quite a few different BC methods.

pill- made me a nutty mess and I bled for like 2-3 weeks of the month. Could never find the right one for me.

Paraguard-T IUD- It was good. Had regular periods, hubby never felt it (if you know what I mean), had it in for 7 years. never a problem. No hormones in this IUD.

Depo Shot- it was good. Periods went down to just 1-2 days a month. I didn't like the shot, but it was quick. Never a problem, except finding time to get into the doctor for the shot. (which is why I decided to not return to this method.)

Mirena IUD- Wonderful! Very happy that I no longer have periods. I don't have ANY cramping or PMS at all anymore. This IUD is hormonal, so it actually stops you from ovulating. In that way it's actually a double method of birth control. You won't ovulate and the IUD prevents pregancy too. I couldn't be happier with this method. And again, my hubby does not feel it either. I've had this for 4 years, so I actually need to have it changed out soon. And I am absolutely doing it again. :)

so now ya all know way more about me than my own mom does. LOL

I don't use anything because after I gave birth to the twins I was diagnosed with PCOS and I'm more than likely not going to get pregnant. I am taking Metformin to help with the PCOS though.

Me too! I was diagnosed with PCOS before my first and had to use Clomid to get pregnant. The pregnancy kicked started my cycle again and I had no problems getting pregnant again. But now my PCOS symptoms are coming back. I just started Metformin this week. I feel great and have lost 7 pounds.

well I am definetely a fan off snip snip!!!! DH had his done back in Nov after baby #4 arrived in July:p so needless to say, 4 was enough for us! I'm not a big fan of the pill simply becuase I have trouble taking any kind of pill {bad gag reflex} so I was on Depo for years, went off of it, 6 months later was pregnant with DS#2 and then on Depo again until I just decided I didn't want to do it anymore...and guess what...I ended up with #3 and #4 18 months apart!!!! so I guess I'm not much help!

I'm a Nuvaring fan! It's still hormonal, though, so if you can't stand it I'm not of much help! Hope you find a good method that suits you!!

I another that can't handle the pill - plus I have heart disease so I cant take ANY hormones now -
I have used the Copper IUD for about 1- years now and I LOVE IT... I went without anything for about a year and then put it back in and I honestly can't tell a difference -

I always did the pill, but I had my tubes tied after I had Cooper, so I don't have to worry about it.

But, if you don't want anymore kids, they do this new thing called Essure, you don't have to have surgery, its done all in office. :)
