SYTYCD Week #7!!

I hate Tyce! Why did he have to give such a crowd pleaser to Twitch & Katee and that boring piece to mark & Kherington last week! Gah!
 
I rather liked Mark in the opening of the Foxtrot...when he was downstage by himself :P

For Josh & Chelsie's Argentine Tango, for some reason I though there was a lot of 'stalling'...like wasting of beats/measures in the beginning...like so they (Joshua) wouldn't have to do so much dancing? I did think that Chelsie was better in her character this time then the one w/Mark. Last time most of the character in that dance was oozing out of Mark. But i still like Mark & Chelsie's Tango better...for my viewing pleasure that is.
 
I also thought the Foxtrot was better than whatever it was that Twitch and Comfort did weeks ago!

I think it's cool when choreographers incorporate the dancer's strength in the routine to some extent...but I thought Twitch was doing more of his style of dance than actual Contemporary dancing. I felt the same way about the Viennese Waltz w/Twitch and Kherington...esp after Nigel said that that dance is typically danced a lot upright b/c of all the heavy medals they wore. I thought that that VW was a lot more Contemp than the Contemp that Twitch did this week lol
 
you know I wrote something similar in my notes-- after that bit about "twitch do you know any tricks har har har" .... Blending styles whatever is great.. but I think at this point they really need to start focusing on showcasing the SPECIFIC style instead of just making the dancers look good. That's not what it's all about... and damn if you insist on doing t hat crap make Mark look good :p
 
In a way I understand from the choreographer's standpoint...*they* don't want to look like crap lol. So they want to make their dance look good. I mean last time Mia had Twitch...he just had him bouncing around on a bed lol. Not much partnering work there...not like that dreaded, awful 2-step that Mark & kherington had to endure - yuck!

Oh well.

I have mixed feelings. I'm glad Mark seemed to have more fun this week (esp w/his Hip Hop number), and maybe it would be better for him to leave on a high note than to risk him getting even more criticism next week. I wouldn't be too upset if he left tomorrow...much better than if he had left last week and his last dances being the 2-step (again...what?!?!) and the jazz (no story...just technique crap).

I'm not saying this b/c I love Lauren...I'm saying that b/c I LOVE MARK!! Even though i don't think he's going to win though lol. I think Bree's right, Katee has a really good chance of winning this. I want to see her do more Latin, Ballroom, or hip hop though.

As weird as this may sound...I think Twitch/Katee/Door routine was probably the most "WOW!", memorable routine for me tonight. Though I could've done w/o the loooong kiss.

And even weirder for me to say this...the most memorable solo for me tonight was Will's lol. w/the James brown and the wig. Though he's still not my favorite, but it was memorable and stood out.

And even weirder!!! I did not like Mark's solo much tonight. maybe I need to watch it again. I've liked the other solos he's done much better.

We have a PVR (same as a DVR but through Bell so that's what they call it :D) and I could have recorded it at the same time, but that doesn't help me watch it right then now does it! :D The show was over at 11 my time so I wouldn't have time to watch it afterwards anyway.
 
I loved the door dance too! Wow! I am really liking Katee lately.

I think it was the kiss that made it weird for me.. I felt it unneccessary-- LOL and that's not me being a prude LOL, I just think it took away from the dance.. Sure the routine had the wow factor- but there wasn't a lot of dancing, I know it was a crowd pleaser, but I think it was for the wrong reasons.

I really wish we could get to see a Katee/Mark routine.. :( I think that would be a.m.a.z.i.n.g.



eta: FYI I would have thought the same if it was Mark, just so you know LOL. I prefer the fake kisses in dance routines, always.
 
I meant to post this last night but I kept forgetting.. I keep reading things about how it really shows how weak Mark is since he's not paired with Chelsie anymore and it's been bugging me a little bit. I think Mark is a great partner- he is a bit weak by himself sometimes (yes.. look.. I'm pointing out a negative about my sweet darling marky boy :D ) but that whole "takes two to tango" cheesy line is so true in this. The problem really is, is that Chelsie is a GREAT partner- as she should be, and most of the other girls just let it lay flat. I hate hearing the judges say the guys didnt' do enough for the girls and things like that- it's a two way street. I think that feeding off of his partner (to the extreme lol) is hurting him now because you could clearly see in that (gay ass) foxtrot that he wasn't really confident in most of it, because comfort is so clunky and boring.

oh yes, and Karen, I agree his solo wasn't that great, it kind of disappointed me. and YES, LOL keep Mark safe because you love HIM :D :D not me LMAO

I do think that his partner makes a difference to him. It looks weird when you are all intense and trying to contact when your partner isn't there at the same level. Like how he mentioned once where he likes 'meaty dancing.' I think he likes the intensity of connecting with someone on that level. I think the Tango (and it SO BETTER be done on the tour) will be even more amazing on tour then it was when they performed it. I think Chelsie seems so different (character/attitude) in last night's Tango then in that 2nd week performance. In that 2nd week, she seemed 'younger' and more of a little girl if that makes sense. Though she should've had that intensity back then...being the ballroom dancer she is and how well she's done in that field.

But I think he's fine by himself. He can be free to be himself, and he does commit and live it 100% in his solos.

except for last nights.. I do agree with you. I LOVE watching his solos-- I didn't mean his solos per say as "being a little weaker by himself" -- I meant when paired up- you know how say, Chelsie stole the show with the tango last night. SHe shines despite her partner being lack luster.. Mark, needs the meaty passion or he just flounders.
 
btw...... LOL I need to find my notes so I can show you some of the super gay stuff I write :D :D Shawna laughs at me just talking about a Mark performance (trust me....... I've spared you all.. a LOT).. If you saw my actual notes you'd all get a good laugh. For some reason my lil note book is missing this morning though (yes.. I have a note book.. FOR sytycd -- and random doodles)

Haha I forgot you're 2 hours behind me, both shows are on @ 7 my time so all 3 of my kids are still awake then so it's impossible for me to actually watch them when they're on! I end up missing most of the show cause the darn kids are distracting me lol! I made it half way thru last night's show though before I fell asleep, so I have to finish watching it here soon!
 
You just HAD to bring up Danny, huh. I could watch Danny dance all day - he is truly amazing and such a beautiful dancer. Funny how I adore Danny's dancing but am very "meh" about Will.

Yeah, Danny & Anya's FT was elegant, classy and smooth. Mark & Comfort's seemed awkward and not as smooth flowing. But I guess I don't really like FT to begin with. Matt & Kourtni did one earlier in the season that got rave reviews from the judges I think, but I didn't like it at all and thought it was cheesy.

well Danny has a bit more personality than Will :p Just watching the videos from last year really show how much better overall that season was :unsure: I miss Pasha & Anya :(


ETA: I don't think the judges liked the matt/kourtni foxtrot.. I don't remember. I thought they did well- it's a cheesy dance LOL
 
Ok, I think I've seen them all. And man is it a tough vote. I did feel bad for Mark in the Foxtrot. I liked him in that.

Bottom Boys: Mark, Joshua (Not sure why, but Josh's solo did less for me than Will's, so Josh it is)
Bottom Girls: Comfort, Chelsie (I couldn't decide between Courtney or Chelsie. I LOVE Courtney. So I flipped a coin. Literally)

Going Home: Comfort, Mark
