Switching from PS: What software do you scrap with?

My Photoshop is apparently not compatible with my Windows 8 computer (neither is Fireworks). I've been using PS for more than 15 years, but I don't really want to pay a monthly subscription rate to PS CC because of several reasons. I'm trying to find another comparable option that will do most of what PS and/or Fireworks did. I don't like GIMP either. What do you use to scrap with? Do you have any recommendations? Thanks!

I've only ever used PS, so I'm absolutely no help. :( I've been doing CC for the last year or so. Have you considered the free 30 day trial to see how you might like it?

I have always used PSE (photoshop elements) and love it, but I have no idea how it compares to PS. I do know that I've taught a few people to scrap with it who consider themselves computer illiterate and it was fairly easy for them to learn.

I use Photoshop CS4 here. Not upgrading anytime soon.

I used PSE for years and loved it. I use CC now because I use Lightroom for my photos and PS for my Scrapbooking.

Thanks everyone! :) I decided to go with PS CC for a year and see how it goes. I don't like the subscription format and it is slightly different than CS5 (I hate that the regular mouse pointer no longer selects all of the items I pick with shift-click and that will take getting use to). However, I chose the Photography plan and it comes with lightroom which I have really wanted to try for awhile now. If I don't like it, I'll probably end up switching to PSE.

Photoshop Elements is a great choice because you won't have to relearn everything. I use Paint Shop Pro and it can do pretty much anything that Photoshop can but with a little more simplicity (kinda like the difference between a point and shoot camera that does most everything for you (PSP)and an SLR where you set all the setting yourself (PS)). It does a good job, but I do wish that I could do more sometimes.

Hope you enjoy CC. :) I was not too keen on the subscription thing either, but getting the constant upgrades and not having to wait made me forget about that.

I use CC and I avoided it for a loooong time. But for $100 a year I am so happy I gave in and upgraded. Elements would be great, I think most use it and even some designers do.

I have used PS CC since the subscription first came out. I love it!! It was time for me to upgrade from PS 5 so I just did the sub.

Is the auto-select box checked?
