Swagbucks? Enlighten me

So I always see people collecting swagbucks on FB. I've looked into it, but was really wondering...do you really collect enough to get anything good?
 
Yep. :) I cash in for 5 dollar amazon gift cards and then stack them in my amazon account. Last week I used them to pay for half of a new point and shoot that I ordered. I'd say I average 10-15 dollars in amazon gift cards per month :) It's addicting too lol
 
Yep - definitely worth it. I've gotten almost $100 since November in amazon gift certificates from doing it. It helps to have referrals under you to gather more.

There are a few ways to collect them, a couple of sites to help you find new codes, and some occasional freebies out there. I didn't download their toolbar, which would get me a few extra swagcodes per month -I just did the firefox add-on which allows me to search through them w/o the added bar on my browser.

I just use them to input searches all through the day. The searches aren't as good as google, but if I need a better search, I just use the drop down in the add-on and go to google after.

To me, it's definitely worth it...definitely. My referral should anyone want it :)
 
And it's good to connect it with facebook b/c you can get referrals that way too. Referrals help A LOT.

A few things I've learned...

DON'T oversearch..if you just click click click you'll get a rules page and if you do that too often then you'll get deactivated.

I search usually 3 times a day - morning/afternoon and night before bed. I space about 2-10 minutes between each search and usually win something within the first 20 searches. If I don't then I leave it and try later.

It's usually better to wait several hours after winning to search again...just trial and error on my part but I seem to win more quickly that way.

They post codes several times a week...read the blog and their facebook page b/c those are the two main places...and download the swidget b/c it gives hints or codes.

It's totally legit - I have a referral link in my siggie too :) :) :)
 
I am collecting points. It appears to be legit to me. I just use the search to collect points and get some swagbucks every few searches.
 
Okay - but I don't get the basic premise. What are you searching for? Give me the very basics, or hook me up to a place that explains it from the very beginning. Their home page wasn't very helpful.
 
Susan - it's basically a search engine that pays you 'bucks' that you can trade in for swag. I use it to get Amazon gift certificates. There's some ads on their site, and they get revenue from some of the searching, etc.

There's nothing particular to search for if you're using it just for a search engine. While you're searching, occasionally you'll get a little popup that says you won 10 or 20 or more swagbucks that goes into your account. Once you've collected enough, you can cash in for your swag. The codes that you find elsewhere are given on their blog or facebook page and you just plug them in on your swagbucks home page. You can also get smaller amounts by looking at their free offers. There's also ways to earn more bucks by purchasing things like magazine offers, etc,. through their store. I just do the searches and extra codes on their facebook, twitter account and blog.

You can also trade in old electronics for swag bucks but it doesnt seem like tehy give a whole lot for them. (by electronics I mean video game systems, cell phones, IPOD's not sure which ones exactly. I checked my old cell phone and they are not accepting it)
 
Okay - but I rarely do searches. So, what do you type in the search field - just anything?
 
And, I supposedly connected through facebook, but I don't see anything in my FB profile about Swagbucks. What should I see?

Yep..anything...it's totally random...I usually type in "google" or "facebook" or something totally generic and keep searching the same thing until I get a win lol

Once you sign up for swagbucks go to their homepage and you'll see a toolbar at the top with a blue box that says "facebook connect" just click it and it automatically connects for you.

Then when you win or get a code it will automatically post it to your fb profile.
 
Okay - I'm getting it now. Where do I find the link for my referral?
 
On your home page on swagbucks.com..when you get a code, you plug it into the box that says Plug in Your Swag Code and click Gimme.

different swag costs different amounts of money..just go to the swag store to see the values of all the prizes. A $5 Amazon card costs 450 swagbucks.
 
I've been using it for about a year now I think, I've been averaging about two $5 Amazon gift cards per month the last few months. I stack mine in my Amazon account and then my DH and I mostly use them for our MP3 music downloads and other stuff from there. I used them to pay for one of Kyle's bigger Xmas gifts back in December too. I don't have many referrals , but you can earn faster if you do cause you get matching SB's for the first 1,000 they earn by searching.

I use it too. I just do all my searches using the Swagbucks toolbar, and check for a codes everyonce in a while. I usually get $10 a month in Amazon GC (sometimes more!) and plan on saving them up for Christmas shopping.

i've been doing this for awhile, but just sort of randomly. i just checked and i have 180 swagbucks! where'd they come from? the last time i looked i had like 17?!

oh, when i went to my account it said "why do i have more swag bucks?" i clicked on it and apparently 1 swagbuck is now worth 10. cooooool!!!!

Yeah..they just redid everything so basically everything multiplied by 10...so like the amazon gift cards in the store used to be 45 swagbucks and now they're 450.
