Stretching Your Grocery Bill

But at home there are days he eats half a peanut butter sandwich and an apple for lunch and is full, and days he eats 2 full sandwiches, an apple, and a few yogurt tubes.

this is both of my boys...my girls are pretty consistent, but the boys never the same from day to day....

You know what's really strange is that I can always tell when Cheyanne is going to have a growth spurt because she starts eating LESS  For 3-5 days she'll go through a spell where she eats about half as she usually does in a day and sleeps more and sure enough she'll have outgrown her shoes or her pants are a bit shorter, etc. After that she starts eating a ton again... Thankfully she is about done having growth spurts and I think will probably top out in another year at most.

Have you thought about making your own bread?

If your kids like pizza night on the weekend, it is crazy inexpensive to make yourself at home. I let each child have their own piece of dough to make into their own individual pizza. Plus, they think it's a blast to be able to make it themselves with the toppings they like.

yep it was 16 WHOLE sandwiches...I know that is alot, but for some reason my kids seemed to be starving.....:D my 12 y/o and 7 y/o each ate 3 whole sandwiches, but luckily they were ful and not asking for anythign to eat before bedtime (which they ususally do) LOL!

My almost 8 yr old eats a lot too. Between my 6 and almost 8 they will eat a whole large size pizza alone. My son eats everything in sight. We limit him. 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. I try to pack plenty of protein in his meals as it makes a difference in his hunger level. I also push water on my kids so they stay hydrated. Cause sometimes they can mistake thirst for hunger.

My 10 year old eats a lot lately. She can out eat her father and I put together. We often have to remind her that she doesn't need to eat until she is stuffed, just eat enough to get through to the next meal. I don't want her to have to deal with food issues. She isn't over weight but she is no longer under weight either (which she was for nearly her entire life).
