Standard size for cards?

4.25x5.5 is a standard A2 size card (I think it's A2). If you cut an 8.5x11 in half (either direction), and then fold that in half, you get 2 cards. I stick to that size mostly, but the craft stores sell packs of cards in other sizes along wtih the envelopes. I buy those when they are sale too.

If I do make a ready-to-print card, I go for 6x4in, as it fits so comfortably on A4 with room for instructions etc. and matching envelopes are readily available.

But I use card blanks for most cards I make. I get them from a card and paper supplier, who happens to do folded cards as a side line, via ebay, and they come in 3 sizes and come with envelopes (forgive the use of metric - its the standard over here now):

10.5 x 14.8cm (just a little larger than 6x4)
9.9 x 20.6cm (long card, roughly DL size)
15 x 15cm (just a little larger than 6x6)

The square card is my favourite shape and size :)

Oh, and I very occasionally do A5 sized cards for special occasions or cards where lots of signatures are going to be added.

THanks girls. I love hearing how everyone does things. I just made a card in the 4.25x5.5 size. Working on a set right now.

I'm hoping to go to the craft store sometime today to check things out. I can't wait!

I do 4.25x5.5 because I mostly make sets to give away to people. I can just buy blank envelopes and they fit and it's easy-peasy. I do have a set of envelopte templates, but I'm too lazy to do that, lol.
