Welcome back to “Spotlight Sunday.” This week we are featuring Tanyia!

Tanyia is one of our "Sweet Talkers" and she was chosen from the thread comments in the last issue of "Spotlight Sunday." I took a peek at her gallery and loved everything in it! Tanyia is so versatile with her scrapping that I couldn't stop looking until I had seen all 592 of her projects posted. In addition to her traditional pages, she also scraps pocket pages, does some wonderful art journaling, and dabbles in hybrid projects. All of which can be seen throughout her gallery, where she posted her first Sweet Shoppe Designs layout in 2009! I was enamored by the subjects she scraps about and the many different styles she uses.

Here is the very first layout she posted on March 31, 2009:

Let's see what Tanyiadeskins had to say when we interviewed her:

1)How long have you been scrapping?

I started paper scrapping in 2000. I even made paper page kits and sold them on eBay! I ended up stumbling across digi in 2007 or 2008, soon after I got rid of my giant tote full of supplies and never looked back! I love it!

2) What color palettes are you drawn to?

I could never narrow it down because I am so inspired by colors. That is always the first thing that draws me in to a kit. I can say I am not very partial to pastels. I think the colors that draw me in the most are teal, green, and blue.

3) What is your favorite holiday / season to scrap?

Oh, I am bad about this. It has been my goal this year to try and get more "events' scrapped. It seems like I take a zillion photos and none of them are stellar, so I get overwhelmed. I started using Cindy's "Snapshots" templates as they help me get a lot of photos in. Even if they aren't the best I don't mind because I want my girls to never forget those awesome family memories!

4) What would you like to learn?

I would love to learn more art journaling/mixed media. Also, I am always trying to improve my shadows and composition skills.

5) Templates or no templates?

Yes templates... and no templates! LOL I love templates! Especially for multi-photo layouts because it helps me figure out the composition of where to put all the photos. On the other hand I have been using a lot less templates lately because I want to have full creative control
and push myself.

6) What is your favorite sweet treat?

I am sort of in love with pastries... donuts, danishes, turnovers, stuff like that! It's all my Nana's fault because I have lovely memories of growing up in her kitchen where she was crazy talented!

7) If you could have any super power what would it be?

Flying... without a doubt. I have always had dreams of flying. To just be able to take off and get away for a few minutes when you needed it. That would be amazing!

Here is a little bit more about Tanyia. She is a native Floridian who lives about 20 minutes away from Orlando. She described her neighborhood with a lot of open space and has even seen a bear in their yard! Right now she is currently catching up on her favorite TV show, "Game of Thrones" and can't wait for the new season! The one thing Tanyia said she couldn't live without would have to be, in her own words, "The interweb!!!! No doubt! I am pretty sure I would actually go through withdrawal if there was an outage!" We hear you Tanyia, us too!

Here are some her amazing layouts!

This is her all time favorite.

You have come a long way, babe! :) I wouldn't even want my first pages shown. I was so crazy. Like I didn't understand "clipping" on a template......I erased around the lines!!!!!!!!!! Imagine how awesome that looked! LOL

I adore your pages and you are so talented!

LOL yes!!! I fortunately had a good friend who taught me a few things when I got started and CTRL-ALT-G was one of them (although I think it was just CTRL-G in our old old version of Photoshop back then). But... she was still learning herself and didn't know that you could hold down shift and it would keep the proportions of the picture constant as you drag the corner to resize it. So she was changing the pixel size of the photo over and over until she got it the right size for her photo spot on the layout. She was sooooo happy when I called her and told her what I "figured out"!!! I laugh so much when I think of things I did when I first started out.

So... loved seeing an old layout of Tanyia's!

Congrats, Tanyia!! You're an awesome scrapper!!

That's so awesome to be able to look back right to the beginning. I try my best to NOT remember what my oldest layouts looked like.. haha!
