Spin-Off: Drinks

Depends on mood, circumstances and the venue.

I don't like sweet stuff, so the only sweet drink I get is Kir Royal (champagne + creme de cassis) or Kir au vin blanc (white wine + creme de cassis).

As for mixed drinks, Caipirinha (cachaca + lime + sugar + crushed ice) is my favourite, closely followed by Mojito (white rum + lime + mint + sugar + crushed ice). If I feel like experimenting, I experiment. I also do mixed drinks myself, only when having visitors though.

When eating out or feeling like a drink during lunch, it's mostly wine, whatever kind, but I do prefer rosé and dry white to the rest (but this does depend from the food). I have taken a liking to Luxembourgish wines and Moselle wines in general, with Auxerrois, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay being my first choices.

I don't like real champagne that much, but I do like the Luxembourgish sparkling wine named crémant.

In Indian restaurants I take Indian beer, and if I feel like it I also take beer elsewhere.

If it's non-alcoholic it's either tea (green, rooibos, fruit, herbal, oolong, you name it, I just don't like black) or still water.

When I'm out its a margarita, mudslide or something similar.
At home its orange pineapple juice with Malibu or Gatorade and vodka/soju.

I don't really drink anymore but in my heyday I drank:

Sam Adams Beer
Bass Ale
Harp Lager
Bushmills/Jameson and Coke
Seven and Seven
Jack and Seven
Madras (orange juice, cranberry juice and vodka)
Bay Breeze (same as a Madras except instead of orange juice, pinapple juice)
Cap Cods (cranberry juice and vodka, twist of lime)
Shooters: Kamakazzis (I have no idea how to spell that!)

With a meal I'll have wine. I like Australian and Chiliean reds. After dinner an Irish coffee is sometimes nice. Out with friends I'll have a margarita or grapetini. Around the house in the evening I like Hornsby Crisp Apple Hard Cider. Mikes Pomegranate Lemonade is good too.

I think I was born in the wrong era... my favorite go to drink is Brandy Sweet (brandy and sprite)...

I hate beer, and I avoid wine because I prefer reds but I get migraines...

so on the rare occasion that I do drink, it's usually a margarita on the rocks (no salt) for me!

This fall on our vacation to Mexico I discovered the Mojito. YUM. I've tried to get them since we've been back, and none have been as good as those in MX though.

About all I ever order is a margarita on the rocks with salt or an amaretto sour. Loooove me an amaretto sour. Occasionally I'll drink Mike's or Smirnoff Ice Raspberry too.

i'm with Lizzy; amaretto sour. thought i have to limit myself. after three or so i start getting a sore stomach, lol. i haven't tried a lot of mixed drinks. i tend to stick with what i know. mudslides are pretty good. i had some sour apple pucker shots and those rocked. but wow when i tried to stand up it was pretty funny lol! Mikes Hard Lemonades are good. i have some in the fridge now, lol. i don't drink much, but we have a lot in the house!

I drink like once every five years at a wedding or reunion... and it's usually a white russian. As for shots, back a million years ago before I had kids (LOL), I liked SoCo and Lime.

Usually I will have wine with dinner when we go out and love a sparkling wine for a starter, a Bellini or Kir Royal are great too.

As far as cocktails go: Another girl who loves S.e.x. on the Beach. Usually I don't like cocktails where you taste a strong alcohol taste, kwim? I also have a great recipe for Grenada Punch, great for entertaining at a BBQ.

And I also like beer occassionally, especially when it is hot and I am very thirsty. To not get drunk I mix it with Sprite or Cola.

Otherwise, no hard stuff for me, like pure whiskey, etc., also no shots. I hate, hate, hate getting drunk, so I do not drink a lot.

lol i had even scanned the thread cause it was weird that a year + old thread was all of a sudden being posted to but I missed it.. @_@ .. thanks mimi

I don't go out, but when I want to drink at home I buy Mudshakes (like Mudslides). I'm not a big drinker :)

I don't drink very often but on the odd occasion that I do it's usually smirnoff ice or orange vodka and sprite if I'm out. At home or hanging out with the girls- it's frozen midori sours.
