Songs that get you moving!

I need to load my iPod up with moving songs - basically songs to get my butt shaking (not JIGGLING) on the treadmill when I run. And I admit - I'm not as "cool" as I once was, so I am lost when it comes to the latest songs out there.

Can you help me out?

you don't need the latest songs!

We have a dance party at our house every night exactly 30 minutes before bed (it launches our bedtime routine at 6:30 every night). We listen to one or two upbeat songs and then one slow song.

Some of the kids' favorites are oldies but goodies:

Build me up Buttercup by the Foundations
Shake It by Metro Station
Good Vibrations by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch
Gonna Make You Sweat by C &C Music Factory
Closer to Free by the Bodeans
Song 2 by Blur
Tumthumping by Chumbawumba

I'll add more if I think of it but I'm too lazy to get up and go find the playlist on the desktop right now :p

Oh gosh I love tubthumping. I had forgotten about that song. LOL

New ones I like:
So What - Pink
Womanizer - Britney
Leavin' - Jesse McCartney

We used to sing build me up buttercup while doing our start of practice runs in high school. SO FUN!

I could exercise to Timbaland's "The Way I Are" on repeat for 8903849023 hours. LOVE that song.

I'll second the Gwen Stefani and Black Eyed Peas CD's. Also, Fergie has some great tracks on her solo CD.

Pump It by Black Eyed Peas
Los Angeles is Burning by Bad Religion
Mercy by Duffy
Piece of Me by Britney Spears

Don't laugh but I love...
"Stronger" Kanye West (nasty and obnoxious but gets my fat butt moving)
"Sweetest Girl" Wyclef Jean
Pink's newest album
Katy Perry
Ashlee Simpson's first album
Avril Lavigne

I've got a lot of random hip hop club songs on my iPod, awesome stuff to work out to but half of them I don't even know the names of I just get my younger friends to tell me which ones I want LOL.

Here's just a few songs on my "Moving It" playlist:
"I See You Baby" - Groove Armada and/or Fat Boy Slim
"Move Your Feet" - Junior Senior
"Good Luck" - Basement Jaxx
"Disturbia" - Rihanna
"Me Plus One" - Annie
"Hyperactive!" - Thomas Dolby
"Chant No. 1" - Spandau Ballet
"Get Up" - Bleu
"Cobrastyle" - Teddybears
"Name of the Game" - The Crystal Method
"Flux" - Bloc Party

I also have
Pussy cat dolls-when I grow up, I don't need a man, and don't cha
fall out boy
and Paramore (they are a little punk though)

ok, call me crazy but I find that Britney's early stuff (Hit Me Baby, Stronger, etc) are good workout songs. They have a good beat that is perfect for the treadmill.

And I was also going to suggest Pink's "So What".

No matter how sleepy i am, these get me moving:
"Waitaminute" by the Pussycatdolls
"Happy" by Square Heads
"Love Shack" by B52's
"Larger Than Life" by the Backstreet Boys :D
"Keep On Movin'" by Five (yep, I like my boy bands!)
"Step Into The Rhythm" by Klippers
"Absolutely Everybody" by Vanessa Amorosi

Oh, and I agree about Britney! Her early upbeats are fun (esp "Oops, I Did It Again," lol!)

OMG i forgot about Will Smith's Switch!! i'm making a list; i haven't bought any new songs for my iPod in months!! thanks everyone, lol!
