Someone tell me...

♥ On my Macbook I have to go up to "edit" then down to "Special characters" then hit insert on whatever little one I want. ❀
 
I can't produce any special characters with my laptop keys for some reason. but I can paste from the character map ♥

edited... discovered the trick. I have to function+scroll to turn the num lock on. Then I can alt+L to get ♥

♥ YAY!! It worked for me too using the number pad!!! ♥♥♥ ☺ ☻ ♦ ♣ ♠ • ◘ ○ Of course I had to try all the numbers! hehe!
 
I could do all that on my dell, but I sure can't figure out yet how to do it on this compaq laptop,lol. Tried the tricks you've all mentioned. I miss my number pad,lol. Maybe I'll try again later.

I can't recall how to pull it up for Mac, but in Windows, just type in charmap in the little run/search thing and it will pull up. Then select whichever font you need (may change depending on which forum you are in). That map will tell you all the different alt+number combos. You can also (for laptop users who don't want to mess with function key, etc.) can just select and copy the symbol from the charmap and paste it into your text.
