from the side of our house saturday night/sunday morning...I didn't even know until my sister called sunday afternoon (she didn't think I was home because she didn't see my car) and asked where my car was...I went outside and no car...The police recovered it down the street from our house...I think the anti theft device kicked in and the car shut off...they tore the ignition out...took all my cd's and my son's car seat...they did leave all of my son's cd's...i guess they didn't have any use for the wiggles, blues clues, little people...I hope they can fix it because I so don't want a new car right now...Ok enough of my little whining...

I'm glad that the police recovered it so quickly and I hope that everything works out so that you can drive it again! I can't believe they took your son's carseat!

people amaze me...what losers! glad it was recovered and hopefully it can be fixed!! what a bummer!!

Im sure its fixable...my husband works in a bodyshop and gets stolen/recovered vehicles in and has had to fix stuff like that. Good thing they didnt take it out on a joy ride alot of times its teenagers just wanting to go out and tear stuff up. Glad you got it back quickly!!

Oh no, what a major PITB! Like Jessica said, it's totally repairable, they can just replace the ignition and recode your locks, etc ... I'm a manager for a large auto insurer, so I see this all too often. You probably know this, but if you have comprehensive coverage, you can submit a claim to your insurance company (comp is a no fault coverage, so there should be no effect on your rates). Depending on your policy, you may even get reimbursed for some of your personal effects in the vehicle. Hugs!

I am glad you were able to get it back. I hope they can fix it quickly. And that is awesome that your sister noticed it

wow I can't believe what some people will do :( I am glad they found your car at least and I hope you can get it fixed soon.

Aww, that totally stinks Rachelle! I'm sorry that happened to you! Glad you were able to get it back and I hope it is fixable!

I was going to say exactly what Sheri said. Theft is a comp claim, and your cds and the carseat should be covered under the personal property portion of your renter's policy.

I'm glad they found your car!!!

thats awful! glad they found it. hope they can fix it. and why the heck would they steal a childs carseat??

i get overly attached to my vehicles. if someone stole mine i'd hunt them down :D

Well I found out they will cover the car seat but not the cd's...I had so many darn cd's in that car it's ridiculous...My coverage does allow me a rental until they resolve any issues with my car so I'm definitely thankful for that...

grrr, that sucks. At least they found it and your insurance will cover the carseat. Such a PITA.

My friend's car was stolen from her driveway and was later in an accident that destroyed a utility pole. The state tried to come after her for damages.

That sucks!!! Some people just really suck!!!

As for your CD's, do you have homeowner's insurance? If so, they might cover the CD's. That's what I was going to do when all of our stuff was stolen out of our travel trailer. I had over $1,500 in CD's in there plus they took my knives, some pots and pans, a GPS system, some two-way radios and a few other things. However, I ended up just saying forget it because I didn't want to pay the deductible.

Wow! Glad they recovered your car! How scary...right from your house!

My son was in a car accident last night...guy rear-ended him...funny things are happening around this occurence...luckily I grabbed my camera and headed up there as soon as I got my son's call! I took PICTURES of the guy, the damage on both vehicles, and his license tag!! He didn't have a driver's license and no proof of who he was...but had a "printout" of insurance...policy # was invalid according to insurance...when I told them I had PHOTO proof of the guy that hit my son including tags and such...suddenly I had a policy # and someone is coming out to view the damage. Police was UNAVAILABLE to come to the scene of the accident for TWO HOURS...so no report was made...but we are walking it in today with the photos printed out for evidence! We're crossing our t's and dotting our i's on this one! Wish us luck!

Oh, goodness, I am glad you got it back, but that sure sucks. I can't believe some jerk would actually take your son's carseat, what the heck are they gonna do with it?
