hey chicky...i heard about it..my mom left EARLY in the morning when we heard about it here on the news to get everything etc...Like she said it's gonna be a MESSSS...and they have another 3 years there...This whole situation makes me sick...lemme know if u need ANYTHING there...i have several sets of friends up there and of course my parents and siblings...:( and 2 of my brothers just went back up there. BLAH...I'll send u a PM in a second. **HUGS**

AH man....that totally sucks... Make sure you prepare for at least 5-7 days without water, electricity, and gas.

I went through the Northridge Earthquake in 94. We lived practically on the epicenter. We were without gas, water, and electricity for over 4 days.

but from the Earth Science teacher in me, OH MY GAWD that's freakin' cool!!! I can't wait to tell my students tomorrow!!!!
 
I think the scariest part is the possibility of no electricity...uh its winter...in alaska...at least its not in the negatives any more :)

I want to add...I totally don't want to sound insensitive. I hope that everyone is ok, but from a geological standpoint, there is sooo much to learn.
 
I agree Samara...it is definately cool...Ill let you know if I change my mind when/if it erupts. I think as long as Im not at work when it happens....at least Ill be in good company with Vanessa :) too bad we couldn't scrapbook....

Its suppose to happen this weekend I guess and Amber and I'll be at work. Which will suck, because we might get stuck there.
 
I lived in Yakima WA when Mt. St. Helens erupted. It was crazy. The sky was totally black with ash, and the ground was covered in ash for a really long time...and then it erupted again not long after.

Just have plenty of water, non-parishable food, blankets...all the standard emergency stuff.
 
Oh wow! I see how Samara thinks it could be so cool! But, I'm sure from your point of view, it's more scary than it is cool! LOL Please stay safe! I'll be keeping y'all in my prayers!
 
i kinda agree with Samara; its kinda cool, lol. i love scientific stuff. but, i'd be scared if i lived near one, so stay safe!
