So we got an iPad...

Some of you probably saw on FB, but dh won an iPad at work yesterday!!! Whee! :w00t: We're pretty much an Android family, so I don't have much experience with Apple other than dd's iPod touch. It's going to be a family thing so we need apps for all ages. So tell me what we NEED now?!?!

-Cover?
-Screen Protector?
-Apps (my youngest is 5 and oldest is 10)

They are favourites with my 6 and 10 year old! :)

I keep a screen protector on my phone all the time after I got a scratch on the screen :(
 
I just have a smart cover, too (over the screen protector, that is). Since you have younger kids who will be using it, I'd probably look into a more sturdy cover. Although, the iPad seems to be pretty rugged.
 
We don't have a screen protector and haven't had any issues. Keira & Cooper both use ours too. Coop was only 3 when we got ours, and we've never had any issues.
 
I tried about 3 different covers/protectors and finally bought an otterbox. It is by far my fave..it makes it a little bulkier and heavier but not having to worry about my 2 dropping it and damaging it makes it worth it to me. Plus I love the built in screen protector.
 
I had a smart cover on mine and bought a clear back too but I was too nervous with the boys playing on it.

I bought an Otterbox and that is the only thing that will ever be on it. We are planning on buying another one or two for the boys for Christmas and we will buy Otterbox cases.
 
Otterbox for the ipad...just in case the kids drop it! My DS has one and it has saved his ipad a few times!

If I were to get an iPad I'd be looking at a Speck case for it. I have 4 for my iPhone and LOVE them so I'd stick to that brand for an iPad. I get my screen protectors & accessories on eBay....way cheaper.

For apps..

Here are some that I have on my phone for my 7 year old to play with:

MeeGenius (I downloaded all the free books for her to read)

My 10 year old has an iPod and she's got many many apps. LOL Her favorite is Minecraft but she'd never want to share the iPad if it was on there. Others that would be good are:

Incredible Machine
Where's My Perry?
Any of the Angry Birds (can't wait for Angry Birds Star Wars!)
Move the Box
Jetpack Joyride
Cover Orange
Jump Out!
Flow Free
 
Temple Run is another favorite game with my 11 year old. Although, it's better on the iPod, I think.
